Kristi Noem and Corey Lewandowski are 'cozier than ever'

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and former Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski are "cozier than ever."

However, according to the Daily Mail, this is not something that the White House under President Donald Trump is happy about.

There have been rumors about an affair between Noem and Lewandowski for some time, but they have kept their relationship on the "down-low."

It was brought back into the public eye, however, earlier this year, when reports emerged indicating that Noem attempted to hire her lover.

Background

In a separate report, the Daily Mail provides background on the situation.

It writes:

In 2023, DailyMail.com reported that married South Dakota governor Noem, 51 – who stresses adherence to 'family values' – and Trump advisor Lewandowski, who is also married, began carrying on an affair in 2019 or earlier.
Noem has previously denied the relationship to DailyMail.com. Lewandowski has refused to comment. Both remain married to their respective partners.

It was briefly reported, after Noem was confirmed as a member of the Trump administration, that Noem tried to hire Lewandowski. Trump himself, however, is said to have put a stop to it.

The Atlantic reported:

But again he was thwarted. Trump personally nixed the idea, said the people, who requested anonymity to describe private conversations. One added that the president was concerned by the optics of Lewandowski working as chief of staff to someone with whom he had reportedly been romantically involved.

Both, of course, continue to deny the affair. Insiders have suggested that Noem's relationship with Lewandowski was even one of the reasons why Trump decided against picking her to be his running mate in 2024. Now, however - whether she is or is not with Lewandowski - most would probably agree that Trump made the right choice with Vice President J.D. Vance.

The latest

Now, the Daily Mail is providing an update on the situation, indicating that the two are "cozier than ever."

The outlet reports, "Lewandowski is now working as a 'special government employee' under Noem at the Department of Homeland Security."

Apparently, Trump is okay with this move.

The outlet continues:

Lewandowski had initially wanted to serve as Noem's chief of staff, but President Donald Trump and his top advisers reportedly felt 'uncomfortable' with the optics of such a placement. The president and Lewandowski settled on him becoming a special government employee to DHS so the pair would be more removed - at least on paper . . .

Whether or not you like her, it has to be admitted that Noem has come into the Trump administration with a fair amoung of "baggage."
