Bernie Sander hit by criticism from his own ex-campaign advisor

U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) is facing criticism from his own former campaign adviser, Tezlyn Figaro.

According to the New York PostFigaro is calling out Sanders and other Democrats "for failing to adapt its messaging beyond white liberals."

It is not what one would expect from the party of diversity.

Figaro, as we will see, has a point. Before we get to that, though, we will quickly take a look at what Sanders has been up to recently.

Background

Sanders - alongside U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) - has been trying to raise public opposition to the leadership of President Donald Trump. To this end, Sander and Ocasio-Cortez recently went on what they referred to as a "Fighting Oligarchy" tour.

They, of course, are claiming that Trump is essentially the head of an Oligarchy that continues to try to enrich themselves at the expense of the American public. Chances are that, if you are reading this article, you know that this is nonsense. You may not realize, however, just how nonsensical it is.

Fox News reports:

Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., chartered a private jet worth up to a staggering $15,000 an hour for several West Coast stops on their "Fighting Oligarchy" tour. Sanders boarded the luxury Bombardier Challenger private jet at the Meadows Field Airport in Bakersfield, California . . . Sanders and Ocasio-Cortez, whom the source also spotted boarding the private jet, spoke at their "Fighting Oligarchy" event in Bakersfield just hours earlier.

It must be nice that these "public servants" are able to afford such lavish private flights.

Sanders and Ocasio-Cortez, however, brand themselves as "Democratic-socialists," and this sort of thing is about what you would expect from socialists.

Figaro weighs in

Sanders' ex-campaign advisor also thinks that what Sanders and Ocasio-Cortez are up to is wrong. It is probably worth noting that Figaro is no Republican - not even close.

She recently said:

Bernie Sanders’ demographic, and I’m just going to be honest, the progressive demographic, the Rainbow Coalition, is white liberals, pretty much, white progressives. There’s still a lack of talking to those that have completely given up, completely disenfranchised.

Figaro made these remarks during an appearance on The Breakfast Club podcast.

She went on to say, "He is talking to a very progressive, white-ran movement, to me. Even if you’re Hispanic, it’s still white-adjacent. He struggles when dealing with race. I’m saying this as his [former] racial justice director."

Putting this off to the side, Figaro probably does have a point that the likes of Sanders and Ocasio-Cortez - and Democrats in general - are having messaging problems. The last election demonstrated this.
