Rep. Nancy Mace accosted over Easter weekend
Rep. Nancy Mace (R–SC) shared a video on social media over the weekend which included a recording of a profanity laced angry altercation with a man who claimed that Mace avoided holding town halls in person.
Unlike many other lawmakers, Mace didn't take a quiet or calm approach to the interaction, as the New York Post reported.
The verbally aggressive argument, which included personal attacks and political charges, broke out shortly after the event began in a cosmetics store.
The interaction
The individual in the video confronts Mace about her town hall schedule, saying, “You could have gone to a dozen town halls last year.”
She responded that she has already held one this year and plans to “do plenty more,” saying, “you’re always invited.”
"Do you want to keep going?" Mace yelled at the man as he persisted in pressing her. "You want to keep harassing me?”
At one point, the lawmaker attempted to show her diverse support for issues, including gay marriage, saying, “And by the way, I voted for gay marriage twice.”
A tense ending
The man, who didn't identify his sexuality, shouted back, “There’s no other humane thing you can talk about me than to say, ‘Oh, I support gay marriage.’”
Both sides yelled out "F-k you" at the other to terminate the heated debate. Mace retorted, "You couldn't take me on, baby," in response to the man's accusations that Mace was a "disgrace to the state" as he walked away. Stay the f–k away from me.”
Tensions between Republican legislators and liberal event protesters have been on the rise recently, and that is clearly demonstrated in this video.
Some unhinged lunatic, a man, wearing daisy dukes, at a makeup store, got in my face today. Dems are nuts. So I went off - and I won’t be backing down.

Recent Changes
House Republicans have recently urged members of Congress to switch to online town halls last month, citing security concerns and organized disruptions as reasons.
Mace herself recently declined to attend a Lowcountry Accountability Alliance town hall meeting, stating that she and her team were afraid for their safety.
After some recent redistricting rendered her South Carolina's 1st Congressional District seat more conservative, Mace has become more popular. In 2024, she secured her reelection with a margin of almost 16 points.
The lawmaker commented later on the incident on X, saying, “I just wanted some face wash on my afternoon off, lol.”
