White House slams NYT report regarding claim Hegseth shared classified info

The liberal mainstream media and their allies in Congress are still working overtime to destroy the reputations of President Donald Trump's top Cabinet members, especially Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.

The New York Times ran a report over the weekend claiming that Hegseth sent a second Signal chat regarding attack plans on Houthi targets to members of his family, claiming that he shared classified information.

However, according to Newsmax, the White House refuted the report this week, insisting that no classified information was shared in the Signal chat involving his family members.

The claims by the liberal rag, and other left-leaning cable and newspaper outlets, continued the same narrative from before that Hegseth has leaked classified information.

What's going on?

White House deputy press secretary Anna Kelly made it crystal clear to reporters this week that Hegseth did not share classified information, and added that the media's attempts to push the story are growing tired.

"No matter how many times the legacy media tries to resurrect the same nonstory, they can't change the fact that no classified information was shared," Kelly said.

She added, "Recently fired 'leakers' are continuing to misrepresent the truth to soothe their shattered egos and undermine the president's agenda, but the administration will continue to hold them accountable."

Newsmax noted:

The second chat on Signal — which is a commercially available app not authorized to be used to communicate sensitive or classified national defense information — had 13 people in the group that included Hegseth's wife, Jennifer, who is a former Fox News producer, and his brother Phil Hegseth, who was hired at the Pentagon as a Department of Homeland Security liaison and senior adviser, according to the New York Times.

Sean Parnell, assistant to the Secretary of Defense for Public Affairs, also chimed in on the Times' report.

"Another day, another old story — back from the dead," Parnell told the outlet in a statement. "The Trump-hating media continues to be obsessed with destroying anyone committed to President Trump's agenda."

"There was no classified information"

Parnell doubled down in his statement to Newsmax, insisting that no classified info had been shared in the chat.

"Another day, another old story — back from the dead," Parnell wrote in a statement to Newsmax. "The Trump-hating media continues to be obsessed with destroying anyone committed to President Trump's agenda," he wrote.

Parnell added, "There was no classified information in any Signal chat, no matter how many ways they try to write the story. What is true is that the Office of the Secretary of Defense is continuing to become stronger and more efficient in executing President Trump's agenda."

It'll be interesting to see how much longer the liberal media attempts to tell the same fake story.
