Jen Psaki admits core audience expects negative coverage of President Trump
Former White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki made a bombshell admission -- at least in the eyes of MSNBC viewers and other liberals -- this week during her program.
According to Fox News, the former Biden press secretary admitted that her core audience expects coverage regarding President Donald Trump is "typically not going to be positive."
Psaki's admission, which is otherwise known to everyone else, comes as her role at the network is set to expand. She will host MSNBC’s 9 p.m. ET program on Tuesdays through Thursdays once "The Rachel Maddow Show" returns to only airing on Mondays.
She also admitted that her MSNBC audience expects the network's primetime hosts to "talk about the opposition" and definitely not be friendly regarding coverage of President Trump.
What did she say?
Psaki seemed to have no problem admitting what most of us have known for years and years, revealing her thoughts during an interview on "The Grill Room" podcast with Dylan Byers.
"We’re going to talk about what the opposing party is up to, in terms of Democrats, and we’re going to talk about future leaders and things. And, we’re also going to talk about Trump, and it’s typically not going to be positive," Psaki said.
"I don’t think anybody watching expects it to be positive, right? There is not like a North Star thing written on a card and everybody does it slightly differently… that’s fairly the vibe," Psaki continued.
She added, "I have not experienced this like, ‘You have to move to the center, you have to have Republicans on, you have to be more moderate.’"
The former White House press secretary also said that while she occasionally has Republicans on her program, she hasn't been given any directive to appeal to right-leaning viewers.
"Every show kind of has a North Star but the vibe is, kind of, under the same umbrella," she explained.
"Scream pillow"
One of the better questions from Byers was when he asked Psaki if MSNBC has a role other than acting as a "scream pillow" for angry, anti-Trump viewers.
Fox News noted:
"First of all, there is only one Rachel Maddow," Psaki said, noting that Maddow has been focused on spotlighting anti-Trump protests across the nation and has refrained from projecting "fear" onto the audience despite a "scary" environment.
"People are scared at home, you have to give them some sense of what is also happening," Psaki continued.
This once again proves why there should be no surprise why MSNBC and other liberal networks routinely pull in dismal ratings. People are tired of liberal outrage and the numbers prove it.
