Tucker Carlson speculates which Dem could win in 2028
With the 2024 election under Americans' belts by at least a few months, it appears that the talking heads are already looking ahead to 2028, when President Donald Trump can't run again, and Washington will again face massive change.
According to Tucker Carlson a Democrat who follows Trump's economic policies would “easily” be the party's hope for 2028, as The Daily Caller reported.
Democratic momentum has stalled since Trump's November 2024 victory, with no clear frontrunner.
On “The Megyn Kelly Show,” the two discussed California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s potential to lead the Democrats in 2028.
Who has the chops
Carlson mentioned that he has known the Democratic governor for some time and thinks Newsom is "legit smart."
However, following Kelly's question on whether Newsom could be the "Dems' great white hope from California for 2028," Carlson expressed his skepticism about Newsom's chances in 2028.
“He’s pretty white. I mean, it’s the anti-white party. They hate white people," Carlson said.
"They’ve been systematically disenfranchising white people from the country they were born in. They say that out loud. That’s what diversity is. It’s everybody but white men. So I’m not whining about it.”
“I’m just noticing that [it’s] much more comprehensive than Jim Crow ever was. So for the party that did that, that set up this Jim Crow system, anti-white system to nominate another white guy. I mean, maybe? But I think they’d be much happier with AOC. I don’t take her that seriously. I’m not really sure what I think,” Carlson added.
The rumor mill
However, Newsom isn't the only Democrat darling that has spent most of their political career in the limelight, garnering all the positive vibes from progressives.
There has been talk that Newsom, along with Democratic New York Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, has started to pursue the party's candidacy for president.
The party's favorability rating was merely 29% in a CNN/SSRS poll that came out on March 16.
More possibilities
Carlson went on to describe his most likely outcome: "I think what is likely to happen is that someone’s going to come out of nowhere with native talent.
"I continue to believe [that] even in the Democratic Party, you have to have talent to succeed. I felt that Bernie Sanders had a lot of talent,” Carlson said.
Speaking to what the conservative part of the equation is, Carlson said “Actually, conservatives don’t want to admit it, but it is popular.
"So someone who comes out and attacks the credit card companies, attacks the endless war, basically does kind of [like] Trump on the left. That person could easily get elected,” Carlson said.
