Trump NIH to make research results public
President Donald Trump and his administration are going to make research results from the National Institutes of Health public.
This, according to Just the News, is a big reversal from the policies of the administration of President Joe Biden.
This is particularly relevant in the area of research regarding treatment for youth gender issues.
It turns out that, like in many areas, the Biden administration was not exactly telling the American public the whole truth.
Open it up
The NIH recently announced that it is accelerating the implementation of policies designed to open research results up to the public.
A press release stated:
I am excited to announce that one of my first actions as NIH Director is pushing the accelerator on policies to make NIH research findings freely and quickly available to the public. The 2024 Public Access Policy, originally slated to go into effect on December 31, 2025, will now be effective as of July 1, 2025.
NIH Director Jay Bhattacharya said that the administration is doing this, in part, as a way to "earn back the trust of the American people."
That trust was eroded during the COVID-19 pandemic, among other things, under the leadership of the likes of Dr. Anthony Fauci and others. The Trump administration is now trying to right the ship.
"Trust in science is an essential element in Making America Healthy Again. As such, NIH and its research partners will continue to promote maximum transparency in all that we do," Bhattacharya wrote.
It's already happening
The Trump administration has already released a review of youth gender medicine, which completely underlines left-wing narratives on the subject.
Just the News separately reported, "The 400-page report breaks from the opinions of many major medical groups in the United States, such as the American Medical Association, who have come out in favor of gender-affirming care for transgender minors."
The outlet continues, "The department claimed that there was a 'lack of robust evidence' to support the use of puberty blockers, surgeries, or other medical procedures and treatments that have been used to help minors transition away from their biological sex."
Just the news reports that these findings are similar to other findings that have been made in other parts of the world, including Europe, which, as a result, has placed significant restrictions on such drugs and surgery.
This is a massive shift from the way things were handled under the Biden administration. It is a step in the right direction, although there is still much work to be done.
