Report: Jill Biden considering whether to write 'explosive' book
Fox News reported earlier this year that Hunter Biden is struggling with financial problems stemming from his "significant debt" and difficulties in finding paid employment.
Interestingly, the scandal-plagued former first son and his monetary woes could ultimately motivate his stepmother to accept a $30 million book offer.
Deal could involve multiple books
That's according to a report published by the Daily Mail on Thursday, which cited claims made by unnamed Washington "insiders."
The offer is purportedly for a joint book deal with former President Joe Biden and his wife, who is said to have kept a diary of her time in the White House.
"Given the financial state that her son is in and the lack of interest in paid speaking engagements for both of them, they could be forced to think twice about her personal and [how] specific they get in their books," a former Biden aide was quoted as saying.
The deal would require both Mr. and Mrs. Biden to author books in exchange for $15 million each, with one figure stating that Mrs. Biden "could write a very explosive book if she wanted to."
Former aide speculates on book's possible tone
The Daily Mail pointed out that a tell-all book could provide an opportunity for the former first lady to settle old scores, including within her own party.
The newspaper noted that Mrs. Biden is widely believed to resent former Vice President Kamala Harris for helping to end her husband's re-election campaign.
Other potential targets include former President Barack Obama, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, actor George Clooney, and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer.
"She's his grudge-holder for sure, and there are definitely plenty of people she will never talk to again, but it's unlike her to take public swings at specific individuals or lay blame," an ex-aide told the Daily Mail.
However, the former staffer stressed that although naming names is not "her style," such an approach would "sell books, though."
Questions about Joe's mental decline likely
What's more, the Daily Mail speculated that Mrs. Biden may be reticent to cover issues on which "any publisher would want all the behind-the-scenes details."
That includes discussing her husband's well-documented mental deterioration along with his disastrous television debate against President Donald Trump.
The newspaper stressed that "Jill Biden is her husband's biggest defender" and would likely "be grilled about reports she covered up his decline," placing the entire concept somewhat up in the air.
