According to Steve Witkoff, a senior adviser and assistant to the president, any allegations of an incident between President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu are "preposterous."

The White House advisor went so far as to say that the rumors are assuredly part of the fake news agenda, according to Breitbart News.

“I’ll tell you, first of all, it sounds like we have a very similar thought process that half these reports we discount so maybe we should discount more than half,” Witkoff said in an exclusive interview filmed at the White House last week.

More friendship details

“I think this report is going to be deadly accurate here, but Prime Minister Netanyahu and the Israeli people are a staunch ally of the United States and it goes back the other way," the advisor said.

According to Witkoff, he has been at multiple meetings between the heads of state and they are, in fact, friendly: "They’re good friends in fact."

This doesn't mean there are no disagreements, but it does mean that the pair consider each other firm allies, and they will continue to be so.

"Israel is a great partner for the United States, strategically, economically, we think very much alike, we have very similar objectives," Witkoff said.

Specific concerns

According to Witkoff the White House and the prime minister have some very specific concerns that help bind the friendship.

"They don’t want to see a weaponized nuclear state in the state of Iran. And so, I don’t think there’s much daylight between how they think and how we think from a foreign policy perspective.”

The remarks by Witkoff foreshadow Trump's Middle Eastern tour, during which he is scheduled to visit Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia.

This is happening at the same time as Witkoff, in his pursuit of a nuclear deal between Iran and the United States, meets with Iranian government leaders in Oman for the fourth time this year early this week.

Previous reports

The president was reportedly "disappointed" with Netanyahu and was about to strike out on his own in the Middle East, according to two unnamed sources cited in last week's Hebrew edition of the Israeli newspaper Israel Hayom.

The fact that Witkoff is ignoring the report is huge, and it will probably come as good news to the Israelis, who have been feeling apprehensive about Trump's inner circle's efforts to reach agreements with Iran and end the war in Gaza.

The fact that Netanyahu has praised his meetings with Trump this year is noteworthy. According to Breitbart News, following his summit with Trump in February, Netanyahu proclaimed it as the "best meeting ever" between a prime minister of Israel and an American president.
