Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard fired acting chair of the National Intelligence Council Mike Collins and his deputy Maria Langan-Riekhof on Tuesday for "deliberately undermining" President Donald Trump, according to sources within the administration.

Whistleblowers have complained that Collins has acted to oppose and undermine Trump, and that Langan-Reikhof has advocated DEI policies and others that the Trump administration opposes.

In addition to the firings, Gabbard has decided to relocate the National Intelligence Council from the CIA to the Office of the Director of National Intelligence.

Sources said the reason for the change is to "directly hold accountable any improper action and politicization of intelligence."

Suspicious ties

Collins is closely tied to Michael Morrell, the former deputy director of the CIA responsible for the letter that claimed the narrative around Hunter Biden's laptop had "all the classic earmarks of a Russian information operation."

Morrell also recruited other former intelligence officials to sign the letter.

Another concern about leaving members of the deep state that oppose Trump in place is that leakers are often "career bureaucrats that are entrenched in Washington politics," according to officials.

"It takes time to weed them out," the officials said further.

Leakers caught

Other non-essential offices within the ODNI that contain leakers are also being phased out by Gabbard.

Gabbard has already caught leakers to the Washington Post and New York Times who worked in the DNI office, and they are being prosecuted by the State Department.

"Politicization of our intelligence and leaking classified information puts our nation's security at risk and must end," Gabbard said when the leakers were charged.

"Those who leak classified information will be found and held accountable to the fullest extent of the law," she vowed.

The deep state was a major hindrance to Trump in his first term, and he wants to neutralize them this time around.

Many of these unelected bureaucrats no longer feel the least bit of responsibility to carry out the policies of the executive branch's leader, if they disagree with those policies.
