Elon Musk says he is returning to work '24/7'

Elon Musk, over the weekend, said on social media that he plans on returning to his work at X, Tesla, and SpaceX.

This would seem to suggest that he will be spending a lot less time with the Trump administration.

Musk, of course, has been a pivotal part of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). President Donald Trump has often referred to him as a presidential advisor, rather than the leader of DOGE. But, Musk has clearly done lots of work with DOGE.

"Back to spending 24/7..."

In his message, Musk said that he is "Back to spending 24/7 at work and sleeping in conference/server/factory rooms."

He is well-known for doing such things.

He continued:

I must be super focused on 𝕏/xAI and Tesla (plus Starship launch next week), as we have critical technologies rolling out. As evidenced by the 𝕏 uptime issues this week, major operational improvements need to be made. The failover redundancy should have worked, but did not.

Fox News explains, "Users began experiencing problems Thursday afternoon following a fire at an Oregon data center that morning." Clearly, Musk wants to fix this.

Also clear is the fact that if Musk is spending "24/7" at Tesla, X, and SpaceX, and will not have any time for the Trump administration.

Is it over?

Musk recently told White House reporters that he plans to significantly cut back his time working with the Trump administration.

Fox reports:

Musk told reporters at the White House on Wednesday that he worked at DOGE – which says it has made $160 billion in cuts by firing federal workers and canceling contracts – "7 days a week, or close to 7 days a week," but now plans to cut that down closer to one day a week.

This appears to be a decision that Musk made on his own, as Trump has made it clear that Musk could stay as long as he would like.

In a separate statement, Musk provided more information about why he is stepping away. The Daily Wire reports:

Elon Musk, who has taken a step back from his role in the Trump administration, said on Friday that he came to the “obvious conclusion” that “accelerating GDP growth is essential” to saving the United States from the national debt crisis.

In other words, while he may no longer be spending all his time with the Trump administration, he is still going to be doing his part to help get this country back on track.
