Investigation will examine Biden's mental competency and use of an autopen to sign documents
A jarring audio recording of former President Joe Biden's interview with former Special Counsel Robert Hur have raised additional questions about his mental competency while serving in the White House.
Those questions may soon be answered as Attorney General Pam Bondi has pulled the trigger on a new investigation.
Investigation will examine use of autopen
According to The Hill, President Donald Trump has instructed Bondi to find out "whether certain individuals conspired to deceive the public about Biden’s mental state and unconstitutionally exercise the authorities and responsibilities of the President."
The investigation will examine Biden's alleged use of an autopen, which is a mechanical device that copies a signature to a document.
It will also focus on the appointment of 200 federal judges along with the issuance of pardons and acts of clemency which were carried out during the former president's time in office.
The Hill noted that for his part, Biden released a statement in which he dismissed claims of being controlled by others as "ridiculous and false."
"This is nothing more than a distraction by Donald Trump and Congressional Republicans who are working to push disastrous legislation that would cut essential programs like Medicaid and raise costs on American families, all to pay for tax breaks for the ultra-wealthy and big corporations," he insisted.
Trump says that "cognitively impaired" Biden was manipulated
The investigation comes roughly two weeks after Trump alleged in a Truth Social post that Biden's autopen was effectively hijacked by nefarious actors.
"Joe Biden was not for Open Borders, he never talked about Open Borders, where criminals of all kinds, shapes, and sizes, can flow into our Country at will," Trump wrote.
"It wasn’t his idea to Open the Border, and almost destroy our Country, and cost us Hundreds of Billions of Dollars to get criminals out of our Country, and go through the process we are going through now," the president asserted.
"It was the people that knew he was cognitively impaired, and that took over the Autopen. They stole the Presidency of the United States, and put us in Great Danger," Trump continued.
Pardons for Biden family members to be reviewed
Meanwhile, The Hill reported on Tuesday that Department of Justice (DOJ) pardon attorney Ed Martin will begin reviewing the pardons which Biden issued to members of his family.
"The American people deserve to know the extent to which unelected staffers and an autopen acted as a proxy president due to the incompetence and infirmity of the previous president," White House spokesperson Harrison Fields was quoted as saying.
"President Trump was elected to restore the integrity and transparency of the office, and answering the question of who was actually running this country for four years is well within the president’s rights," Fields added.
