First lady Melania Trump showcased her fashion sense at Army parade with outfit from American designer
On Saturday, President Donald Trump and others attended a grand military parade in Washington, D.C. to celebrate the 250th birthday of the U.S. Army, which coincided with a celebration of the president's 79th birthday.
First lady Melania Trump was by her husband's side for the event and, as usual, her exquisite taste in fashion was on full display along with the Army's soldiers, vehicles, and weapons, according to Breitbart.
Notably, though the first lady's stunning outfit eschewed a patriotic red, white, and blue color scheme, her ensemble did seemingly adhere to the president's overarching "America First" theme in that it was made in New York City by an American fashion designer.
The first lady's outfit
Breitbart reported that Melania Trump, working in coordination with her fashion advisor, Hervé Pierre, selected a beautiful yet understated matching blazer and skirt from New York-based designer Adam Lippes for the Army's 250th Anniversary Parade on Saturday.

The "Suffolk Jacket," which retails for $2,490, is described as an "impeccably tailored double-breasted jacket" that "features a pinstripe twill, structured shoulders, silver-tone buttons, and sleek peak lapels."
That top was paired with a matching "Levi Skirt," which retails for $1,190, that is "crafted from lightweight pinstripe twill that echoes the elegance of traditional suiting."
"Cut in a structured silhouette, it cinches at the waist, offering a flattering and timeless fit," the skirt's description continued. "The breathable twill ensures all-day ease, making it a versatile piece for both polished daytime dressing and understated evening wear."
The first lady's outfit was completed with a pair of blue denim Christian Louboutin stiletto heels, which once retailed for $775, that she first wore for a White House event in April 2018, per Breitbart.
Highlighting an American designer
According to Women's Wear Daily, Melania Trump obtained her outfit for the Army parade from New York City-based and Buffalo-born fashion designer Adam Lippes, who owns a trio of luxury retail outlets in NYC, Palm Beach in Florida, and Houston, Texas.
This is not the first time that Lippes has provided the clothing worn by the first lady, as she wore a "tailored navy silk wool coat, coordinating pencil skirt, and an ivory silk crepe blouse" from the designer for her husband's second inauguration as the president in January.
It is believed that Melania's stylist, Pierre, who is known to be a "frequent retail shopper," recently purchased the outfit for Saturday's event from Lippes' store in New York.
Fashion over partisanship
Interestingly enough, WWD noted that Pierre and Lippes used to work together in the mid-1990s for famous designer Oscar de la Renta, who was known for prioritizing fashion above politics and had no qualms about providing stylish clothing for both Democratic and Republican first ladies, including former first ladies Hillary Clinton and Barbara Bush.
Lippes, unlike many other modern designers who've refused to work with Trump because of their partisan hatred for her husband, appears to have followed in de la Renta's footsteps in that regard and, in January, shared with the fashion outlet how thrilled he was to dress the first lady for the inauguration and other events.
"So I’ve always had a far-reaching respect for the first family that was certainly instilled in me from Oscar. 'We dress who’s in power' was, I think, maybe what he used to say. 'That’s my job,'" Lippes said at the time. "In the ability to showcase what we can do, there’s no greater stage."
