Prince Harry and Meghan Markle reportedly lose four more staffers in recent weeks
British Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, have faced numerous negative headlines over the past several years, largely due to their own actions and decisions.
The ostracized members of the British Royal Family just endured another major blow to their already damaged reputations with the sudden exit of no less than four staffers in the past few weeks, according to Fox News.
Those recent departures bring the total number of staffers who have left the famous couple since they stepped back from their Royal Family roles in 2020 to around 20, suggesting that the underlying problem may be with them and not those they've hired.
Four staffers gone in recent weeks
People magazine reported last week that it had independently confirmed the departure in recent weeks of at least four publicity staffers for Harry and Meghan.
That includes Los Angeles-based deputy press secretary Kyle Boulia and U.K.-based press officer Charlie Gipson, both of whom began working for the Sussexes little more than a year ago.
The recent exits of Boulia, Gipson, and others comes on the heels of another significant shake-up of the Royal couple's staff with the addition earlier this year of Meredith Maines, formerly of Google, Hulu, and "American Idol," as their chief communications officer, and former Netflix publicist Emily Robinson as their director of communications.
The outlet further noted that, just last year, the Sussexes were also left by Ashley Hansen, their former communications head and global press secretary, along with former chief of staff Josh Kettler.
"There will be another change in the future"
Hello! magazine was the first to report on the recent parting of ways of four members of Prince Harry and Meghan's team, and cited an unnamed source as suggesting that additional staff shake-ups could be imminent.
"Something tells me there will be another change in the future," the anonymous source said. "Meghan and Harry have hired some of the most incredible people at the top of their fields, yet somehow none of them ever work out."
Part of the problem for the Sussexes is a series of ill-advised decisions that have resulted in bad publicity for the couple, including Harry's recent BBC interview in which he claimed that his father, King Charles, was no longer speaking to him because of a lost court case over his security, as well as the sharing of a video in which the Duke and Duchess were "twerking" before the birth of their daughter, Princess Lilibet.
The problem is Harry and Meghan, not their staffers
Fox News reported that British Royal Family expert Richard Fitzwilliams said of the recent staff exodus for Harry and Meghan, "Something is clearly very wrong if you work for the Sussexes." He pointed to the "dreadful" decisions behind the BBC interview, poorly received productions on Netflix, and added, "I would love to know who advised them that it made sense to post the 'twerking video.'"
"This will haunt them," he further stated. "With judgments as bad as this … you can’t blame staff for looking elsewhere."
Fitzwilliams also observed the long-standing allegations against Meghan of bullying, which she has consistently denied and instead claims to be a victim herself, and said, "There are those who would link this to the reputation Meghan has of being difficult to work with."
Hilary Fordwich, another Royal Family expert, said the departures signify "another indication of the dysfunction and instability within their household," and noted, "Highly qualified professionals from many top-notch firms have previously struggled to thrive under the Sussexes. This latest bloodbath serves as solid confirmation."
