The death of beloved "Friends" star Matthew Perry rocked the television world and Hollywood in general, especially given the fact that he died from a ketamine overdose.

According to Fox News, the doctor who provided the ketamine to Perry in the month-long span leading up to the actor's death will reportedly plead guilty to multiple charges, the network has learned.

Earlier this week in a federal court, Dr. Salvador Plasencia, as part of a plea deal, agreed to plead guilty to four counts of distribution of ketamine.

He's expected to enter the plea in the coming weeks. Fox News noted that the charges bring with them a maximum sentence of up to 40 years in prison.

What's going on?

In late 2023, it was announced that Perry had died in an apparent drowning accident at his Pacific Palisades home. He was 54 at the time of his death.

Just nine months later, at least five people were arrested and charged with multiple counts -- all connected to Perry's unfortunate death.

The situation was even worse, as the dealers who provided the ketamine to Perry reportedly took advantage of his great wealth, charging him staggering amounts for the dozens of vials of the drug.

Fox News reported:

U.S. Attorney for the Central District of California Martin Estrada said at one point that the defendants distributed approximately "20 vials for approximately $50,000 in cash" to Perry for Kenneth (Kenny) Iwamasa, Perry's live-in assistant, to distribute the drug to the actor. During another sale, the dealers "took advantage of Mr. Perry" by selling approximately "50 vials of ketamine for approximately $11,000 in cash."

The doctor who is now expected to enter a guilty plea reportedly taught Perry's assistant how to inject the actor with the drug.

Fox News noted:

Iwamasa allegedly learned how to inject ketamine from Plasencia, who then left vials of the dissociative anesthetic drug for Iwamasa to inject Perry at his home.

The vials of ketamine allegedly cost Dr. Chavez approximately $12 each. At one point, Dr. Plasencia wrote to Dr. Chavez, "I wonder how much this moron will pay" and "Let’s find out."

"The Ketamine Queen"

While the doctors have been charged as part of the connection to Perry's death, other vials of drugs were obtained through "The Ketamine Queen," aka Jasveen Sangha.

Sangha's dose of Ketamine was reportedly the one that caused Perry to die.

She is also in major legal trouble as a result.

Fox News noted:

In addition to one count of conspiracy to distribute ketamine, Sangha is also charged with one count of maintaining a drug-involved premises, one count of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, one count of possession with intent to distribute ketamine and five counts of distribution of ketamine.
