Rep. Massie joins forces with 'Squad' to pass War Powers Resolution
Weird things are happening in Congress, and that was especially true this week when a conservative member of Congress essentially joined forces with members of the radical left "Squad" on a hot-button topic.
According to Fox News, Rep. Thomas Massie, a Republican from Kentucky, made it clear that he demands President Donald Trump get full clearance through Congress before any wars are started that involve Iran.
He was announcing the War Powers Resolution that he introduced with Democrat Rep. Ro Khanna of California on Tuesday, and he asked all members of Congress to co-sponsor it.
The resolution has already drawn support from "Squad" members Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez (D-NY) and Rep, Ilhan Omar (D-MN).
What did he say?
In drawing up the resolution as tensions rise between the United States and Iran, Massie insisted that Trump would need to clear any war actions with Congress, as the U.S. Constitution demands.
Fox News noted:
Massie, whom Trump threatened to primary during the House GOP megabill negotiations, invited "all members of Congress to cosponsor this resolution." By Tuesday night, the bipartisan bill had picked up 27 cosponsors, including progressive "Squad" members Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Ilhan Omar.
Massie also made his intentions clear in a social media post regarding the developing situation in the Middle East.
"This is not our war. But if it were, Congress must decide such matters according to our Constitution," Massie wrote.
This is not our war.
But if it were, Congress must decide such matters according to our Constitution.
I’m introducing a bipartisan War Powers Resolution tomorrow to prohibit our involvement.
I invite all members of Congress to cosponsor this resolution.

Social media reacts
Users across social media had plenty to say about Massie's post.
"Last I checked, the President outranks a congressman. Why wouldn’t you wait and see what the President intends to do instead of jumping the gun, as usual with you? I voted for no new wars but, FFS, give the president some time and a chance to catch his breath!" one X user wrote.
Another X user wrote, "So you are saying that you are good with Iran having a nuclear arsenal. I don’t think very kindly of politicians from Kentucky right now. You, Rand Paul and Mitch have all forgotten Trump won and is found what we voted for."
Only time will tell if Massie rounds up enough support to pass it.
