Biden attempts to take a shot at Trump on Juneteenth

Former President Joe Biden recently tried to take a shot at President Donald Trump.

Biden did so, according to Fox News, during his recent public outing to an AME church service.

As is often the case in these situations, it has more or less backfired on Biden. Take a look at this to understand why:

Background

The above video is from an event that Biden attended at a church in Galveston, Texas, on June 19, 2025, which was Juneteenth. Biden was there to celebrate the holiday.

Beforehand, it had been announced that:

Biden will attend the annual Juneteenth service at the church, 2013 Broadway, which is set to begin at 6:15 p.m., church trustee Sharon Batiste Gillins said. Biden is expected to say a few words, but won't be the keynote speaker at the service, Gillins said.

The former president did indeed say a few words.

Fox reports:

Biden criticized the idea that Juneteenth is not worthy of federal holiday status. He also recalled visiting the Black community in Northeast Wilmington often while growing up in Claymont – suggesting he visited the underserved neighborhood after attending early-morning Catholic Mass in Greenville, Del.

He just could not help himself, however, from attacking Trump.

"This guy..."

In his speech, Biden, slurring his words, tried to explain the importance of Juneteenth.

He said:

I used to chair the African Affairs subcommittee. I've been to the origins of where slavery started [in Africa]. And to listen to them talk about it now, how things are changing. We have to remember, our country is founded on the promise of freedom; freedom for everybody. So, the events of Juneteenth are of monumental importance to the American story.

Then, Biden launched an attack on critics of the holiday. He said:

They don’t want to remember – but we all remember the moral stain. Well, I took the view as president, we need to be honest about our history, especially if there's been any time going ever to erase our history. Not just here, but, this guy--

Obviously, Biden, here, is referring to Trump. Fox reports that the former president, at this point, "trailed off and signed himself."

The outlet adds, "He went on to implicitly criticize Trump for returning southern military bases to their former names." He also argued that " Black Americans and other minorities are still facing roadblocks to the ballot box six decades after the Civil Rights Act."

" A free people [claim] their rights, as derived from the laws of nature."
