Trump gives California 60 days to stop indoctrinating kids

The Trump administration has ordered California to stop using sexual education programs to indoctrinate vulnerable children with transgender ideology.

The order finally puts California on notice for slipping inappropriate “genderqueer” materials into classes for children.

California has 60 days

The federally funded Personal Responsibility Education Program (PREP) is supposed to teach children about contraception and abstinence, but California has pushed the legal boundaries to force its own woke agenda on kids, the Administration for Children and Families (ACF) discovered.

California has 60 days to remove “all gender ideology references” from its materials or lose federal funding, the ACF, which is part of the Department of Health and Human Services, said.

“The Trump Administration will not tolerate the use of federal funds for programs that indoctrinate our children,” ACF acting Assistant Secretary Andrew Gradison said. “The disturbing gender ideology content in California’s PREP materials is both unacceptable and well outside the program’s core purpose. ACF remains committed to radical transparency and providing accountability so that parents know what their children are being taught in schools.”

Newsom defiant

The Personal Responsibility Education Program (PREP) receives nearly $6 million in federal funding and is meant to teach kids ages 10-19 about contraception and abstinence.

California Governor Gavin Newsom (D) told the Washington Examiner that the materials in PREP are “medically accurate,” and he suggested he would not immediately comply with the administration’s demands.

“To be clear: this is NOT California’s K-12 sex education curriculum,” a Newsom spokesperson told the Washington Examiner.

“The California Personal Responsibility Education Program (CA PREP), which receives barely $6 million in federal funding, provides comprehensive sexual health education to adolescents via an effective, evidence-based program model.”

The battle is part of a broader political war between Trump and woke Democrats in the nation’s most populous state, whose governor has been in a high-profile confrontation with Trump over immigration.

Medically inaccurate

Despite Newsom calling them medically accurate, the sex education materials uncovered by the Trump administration include blatant mistruths, with instructions to “remind students that some men are born with female anatomy, some women are born with male anatomy.”

Similarly, teaching materials define the amorphous concept of “gender identity” as “a person’s deep-seated, internal sense of who they are as a gendered being."

The Trump administration said it obtained the materials from PREP in March to conduct a medical accuracy review and found “egregious content” that falls “outside the scope of PREP’s authorizing statute.”
