Former VP Kamala Harris reportedly weighing California gubernatorial run: Report
Remember former Vice President Kamala Harris? She's the one who lost the presidential election to President Donald Trump and then quickly vanished from the public radar.
According to Breitbart, that could soon change in a big way, as some sources are reporting that Harris is considering a gubernatorial run in California, though the same sources say she hasn't made a final decision at this time.
The sources reportedly told The Hill that Harris is excited about the possibility of running, and has reportedly set a deadline of the end of summer to make a final decision on whether or not she'll jump into the race.
Those same sources also said that Harris is being told that the move makes the most sense for her politically, though that's difficult to believe even in deep blue California, where there are plenty of Democrats who are still unhappy with how the 2024 election concluded.
What's going on?
The idea that Harris could make a run for the governor's mansion in California is apparently a real thing, and it's being talked about, as the outlet noted:
Sources told the Hill that while Harris “hasn’t made a final decision yet and is still considering all her options,” the possibility of her jumping into the race for governor “has given her a renewed sense of excitement.” The sources added that Harris is “sticking to a self-imposed end-of-summer deadline” in which to decide.
Notably, other sources have flat out denied the possibility that Harris could run for governor in California, creating some level of confusion as to what's actually being said.

The Hill noted:
While the sources caution that Harris hasn’t made a final decision yet and is still considering all her options, they say she has made it clear that she is not done with public service and is giving the race strong consideration.
Those who have spoken to Harris about the possibility of entering the race say it has given her a renewed sense of excitement and, as one source put it, “a glimmer in her eyes.”
Earlier polls this year placed Harris at the top of the frontrunners list for Democrats as a likely replacement for Gov. Gavin Newsom.
Others believe she's still too politically radioactive from the results of the 2024 election to have a shot against a strong Democratic opponent.
Social media weighs in
Users across social media weighed in on the news of a potential gubernatorial run for Harris.
"I like to think this opens the door, even sightly, for a surprise Republican victory," one X user wrote.
Another X user wrote, "Of course she’s running. I bet she loses too."
Only time will tell what Harris decides, and if she'll have a real shot at it or not.
