Twelve House Democrats have broken party lines and announced their support of Trump's attack on Iran's nuclear facilities.

Trump's attack on Iranian nuclear facilities this past weekend ignited strong support among Americans but strong opposition from many Democrats, with some even calling for impeachment.

Democrats like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) have demanded Trump's impeachment for supposedly not consulting Congress before attacking Iran, despite a longstanding precedent giving the president power to initiate military action.

Trump's predecessor, former President Barack Obama, made extensive use of these powers in carrying out hundreds of drone strikes in the Middle East over his eight years in the White House.

Overwhelming support

Not all Democrats are on board with this claim that Trump violated the separation of powers, and that kills any possibility of House Democrats bringing up any serious impeachment case.

Despite shrieking from Trump's enemies in the Democrat Party, the strikes on Iran's nuclear facilities are overwhelmingly supported by the GOP and the American people.

Joining that support is a coalition of Democratic Representatives who wrote a letter endorsing Trump's attack on Iran and praising the performance of the troops involved in the complex operation to destroy Iran's nuclear facilities.

The letter opened by saying, "We write firstmost as Patriots who love our country. Each and every one of us wore the uniform with pride. Each and every one of us was ready and willing to lay down our lives to protect our fellow Americans, and to support and defend our Constitution."

The letter continued, “With that in mind, we want to thank our troops for their bravery, from the B-2 pilots to those stationed across the USCENTCOM Area of Responsibility. We also write as Veterans.”

The letter was signed by Reps. Pat Ryan (NY), Gil Cisneros (CA), Eugene Vindman (VA), Chris Deluzio (PA), Bobby Scott (VA), Jimmy Panetta (CA), Derek Tran (CA), Herb Conaway (NJ), Chrissy Houlahan (PA), Maggie Goodlander (NH), Salud Carbajal (CA) and Ted Lieu (CA).

Ongoing conflict

Considering Democrats are already outnumbered in both the House and the Senate, having twelve Democrats expressing support for Trump's actions completely kills off any far-fetched hopes of impeachment.

With the destruction of Iranian nuclear facilities, the U.S.'s role in the conflict is back to a mediatory role. While a ceasefire was declared on Monday, both Iran and Israel quickly violated that ceasefire, causing extreme frustration for Trump.

The Trump administration is committed to avoiding American involvement in further hostilities while simultaneously open to Israel forcing regime change in Tehran.

This means Trump has to walk a tightrope to avoid further military involvement while maneuvering in a way that could see Iran's radical government toppled, ideally through a revolutionary movement led by Iran's oppressed people.
