Justice Sotomayor lashes out at conservative colleagues for siding with Trump administration
On Tuesday, the Supreme Court moved to stay a lower court injunction which blocked the Trump administration from deporting aliens to countries other than the ones they came from.
Yet the six to three decision was met with a fiery dissent from one liberal justice who lashed out at her conservative colleagues on America's highest judicial body.
Justice Sotomayor: Supreme Court is eroding "respect for courts and the rule of law"
According to CNN, the dissent was authored by Justice Sonia Sotomayor, who wrote, "The government’s assertion that these deportations could be reconciled with the injunction is wholly without merit."
"Given its conduct in these proceedings, the government’s posture resembles that of the arsonist who calls 911 to report firefighters for violating a local noise ordinance," she asserted.
However, Sotomayor reserved the harshest criticism for her fellow justices, who she accused of undermining "respect for courts and the rule of law."
"Even if the orders in question had been mistaken, the government had a duty to obey them until they were 'reversed by orderly and proper proceedings,'" she maintained.
Case arose after Trump administration attempted to send criminals to South Sudan
"That principle is a bedrock of the rule of law. The government’s misconduct threatens it to its core," the Democratic appointee continued.
"This is not the first time the court closes its eyes to noncompliance, nor, I fear, will it be the last," Sotomayor complained.
"Yet each time this court rewards noncompliance with discretionary relief, it further erodes respect for courts and for the rule of law," she went on to add.
The case arose when the Trump administration attempted to deport a group of convicted criminals to South Sudan after their home countries refused to take them back.
Deported individuals include convicted murderers and child sex predators
As Breitbart reported, the group included Enrique Arias-Hierro, who has convictions for homicide, armed robbery, kidnapping, and impersonation of an official.

Jose Manuel Rodriguez-Quinones, Thongxay Nilakout, Jesus Munoz-Gutierrez, and Tuan Thanh Phan also have homicide convictions while Kyaw Mya and Nyo Myint are guilty of child sex crimes.
The men have been held at a United States military base in the East African nation of Djibouti since a district court judge blocked their removal to South Sudan.
