Zohran Mamdani accused of 'laundering' his radical political beliefs
Zohran Mamdani, the man hoping to become the next mayor of New York City, is trying to "launder" his radical views into office.
The accusation, according to the New York Post, comes from political operative Ken Frydman.
This comes after Mamdani seemed to suggest that he is open to keeping Jessica Tisch as the commissioner of the New York Police Department (NYPD), even though Tisch does not espouse Mamdani's far-left views on policing.
NYC Mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani stated that if he wins the Mayoral race, he will consider keeping the current NYPD commissioner Jessica Tish .

Background
For those unfamiliar with Tisch, the Post provides some background.
Per the outlet:
Tisch, a well-regarded public servant and billionaire heiress, has tried to stay above the partisan fray, despite a number of politicians trying to use her as a pawn. Mayor Eric Adams picked Tisch in November to rebuild the NYPD’s standing — and his own — after his first three police commissioners respectively flamed out amid infighting, scandal and more infighting.
The outlet notes that Tisch has "diametrically opposed stances [from Mamdani] on bail reform, discovery laws, and other public safety issues." Mamdani, for example, has supported such things as the "defund the police" movement, whereas Tisch has not.
Yet, Mamdani recently suggested that he is open to keep Tisch as the commission.
The big question, of course, is whether Mamdani is just trying to smuggle his socialist views into office, hiding them, for the time being, behind Tisch. Many are arguing that this is indeed what is happening.
"He's laundering his radical stances"
This is the argument that has been made by Frydman.
He said:
He’s laundering his radical stances, that’s what he’s doing. But he needs his defund-the-police voters to turn out again and cop-hating Tiffany Cabán is lurking.
We really do not have any reason to believe that Mamdani has moved away from his radical political beliefs. Democrat leadership appears to be trying to get him to take back some of the things that he has said, and, to some extent, he is.
This all comes after Mamdani easily won the New York City mayoral primary, outstripping former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D). Cuomo, it seems, is trying to stay in the race, but it is hard to believe he has a chance after the primary results.
There seems to now be a fairly strong possibility that he will indeed become the next mayor of New York City.
