Acting great Richard Dreyfuss is hospitalized
Richard Dreyfuss, the actor well-known for "Jaws," "What About Bob?," and many others, has been hospitalized with a serious illness.
The Daily Mail reports that Dreyfuss has been diagnosed with viral bronchitis.
The Cleveland Clinic explains:
Bronchitis is when the airways leading to your lungs (trachea and bronchi) get inflamed and fill with mucus. You get a nagging cough as your body tries to get rid of the mucus. Your cough can last two or more weeks. Acute bronchitis is usually caused by a virus and goes away on its own. Chronic bronchitis never really goes away but can be managed.
Dreyfuss would appear to have the acute kind.

The New York Post reports:
‘Hello fellow cons,” Dreyfuss said from a hospital bed with a “Jaws” blanket covering him. “I am very, very sorry to tell you that I’ve been diagnosed with, viral, er…What is it?” “Bronchitis,” Dreyfuss’ wife, Svetlana Erokhin, answered off-screen.
The actor went on to reveal more information about his illness.
He continued:
I’ve been told by my doctors I cannot fly and I would have to fly five hours to get there. I’m terribly sorry because I had planned to be there and I had been looking forward to it, but I am unable to do so. I don’t want to get anyone else sick, and I don’t want to get sicker myself. I feel terrible about not showing up and I feel worse about exposing you to this apparently very viral illness. But there will be other times and I will make it my business to show up.
He joked, "I want you all to feel very sorry for me, and very sorry for yourselves."
