Hunter Biden says Democrats lost because they were not "loyal" to his father

Last year saw former President Joe Biden take the unprecedented step of ending his reelection campaign and endorsing former Vice President Kamala Harris.

While Hunter Biden admits that President Donald Trump was ultimately victorious, he says Democrats were responsible for the outcome.

Biden says his father could have won if he had not been forced out

According to the Washington Post, the younger Biden made that assertion during an appearance on former Democratic National Committee chairman Jaime Harrison's new podcast, "At Our Table."

Specifically, Biden argued that his father could have prevailed over Trump had powerful figures within the party not pressured him to drop out.

"You know what, we are going to fight amongst ourselves for the next three years until there’s a nominee. And then with the nominee, we better as hell get behind that nominee," Biden was quoted as saying.

"And I will tell you why we lost the last election. We lost the election because we did not remain loyal to the leader of the party. That's my position," he continued.

"We had the advantage of incumbency. We had the advantage of an incredibly successful administration, and the Democratic Party literally melted down," the former president's son complained.

Biden takes issue with claims made by Jake Tapper

What's more, the Examiner noted how Biden took issue with CNN host Jake Tapper, who co-authored a book on his father's administration.

Titled "Original Sin: President Biden's Decline, Its Cover-Up, and His Disastrous Choice to Run Again," the book alleges that Hunter Biden played an oversized role at the White House.

"You think Jake Tapper’s telling the truth when he says that I was the acting chief of staff of the president?" Biden asked.

"I was in that White House 12 days over the course of the last two years of the administration. Clearly, because I had other things going on, OK?" he said.

Tapper: Hunter Biden is "prone to horrible decisions"

For his part, Tapper has publicly criticized the former president along with his staff for allegedly empowering Hunter Biden.

"It’s bizarre because I think he is provably, demonstrably unethical, sleazy, and prone to horrible decisions," The Independent quoted Tapper as telling Katie Couric in a May interview.

"Look at the record," Tapper continued. "After his brother died, he cheated on his wife with his brother’s widow and then got her addicted to crack. That’s just one thing I could say. I don’t have a lot of personal regard for him."
