Republicans block Dem push to release Epstein's federal investigation files

The drama surrounding the death and documents of former disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein rages on, and this time it’s the left that is baiting with information releases.

Senate republicans blocked the Democrats' attempt to formally demand that the current administration release documents concerning the official federal investigation into Epstein, as The Daily Caller reported.

This comes after President Donald Trump and other top officials asserted that there was no “client list” after years of questions about the alleged list, and who might be on it.

Democrats are suddenly extremely interested in releasing information, now that Republicans seem hesitant.

From The Left

Sen. Ruben Gallego (D-Ariz.) made a request on Thursday of this week, asking for unanimous consent to pass a resolution demanding the release of the documents.

This did not receive unanimous consent, and Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-Okla.) stood against the move, calling it “pure theater.”

For this kind of move, it only takes one senator to block the aptly named “unanimous consent” request by another senator.

"They're protecting the rich and powerful — again," Gallego said on X after the resolution was blocked.

This call was just a few days after both the FBI and Justice Department released their information that Epstein died via suicide, and there was no “client list” to be had.

Another Democrat, Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Oregon), also spoke out about the lack of transparency from the Trump administration in a recent speech in the upper chamber of Congress.

“I don’t think he’s said anything more outrageous or stunning than what he said yesterday -- declaring the interest in the Jeffrey Epstein matter a ‘hoax’ and a ‘scam,’” Wyden said in his July 17 speech.

Another Investigation

“It’s literally unbelievable,” Wyden, who is the ranking member of the Senate Committee on Finance, said. “Treasury’s Epstein file details 4,725 wire transfers adding up to nearly $1.1 billion flowing in and out of just ONE of Epstein’s bank accounts. If you ask me, that’s 4,725 potential lines of investigation right there.”

The lawmaker promised not to give up on this push, saying, “The Trump administration may be closing the books on Epstein’s sex trafficking, but I am not ready to give up. Far from it.”

Trump, his attorney general, Pam Bondi, and the Director of the FBI, Kash Patel, have all spoken publicly saying there is no need for concern about the documents, that much of it is a conspiracy.
