Democrats take new approach to defeat Trump
Some Democratic members of the U.S. Congress appear to be using a new strategy to fight against President Donald Trump and Republicans.
The new strategy, according to The Hill, is to actually praise Trump for some of the good things that he is doing.
It is a stark contrast from the Democrats' former strategy of insisting that Trump is an evil dictator who cannot do anything right.
It would seem that some Democrats have finally awoken to the fact that ceaselessly demonizing Trump is not a winning strategy, particularly on issues with which Trump is tremendously popular.
The new strategy in action
The Hill, for its report, references a recently-held Hill Nation Summit, which was attended, among others, by U.S. Reps. Ro Khanna (D-CA) and Jim Himes (D-CT).
There, Khanna went so far as to admit that "Trump's a very talented politician." "Donald Trump's a very talented politician, right? I don’t agree with him as a leader. He’s a very talented politician," the congressman said.
Later on, Khanna argued that Democrats have been "too judgmental" of those Americans who voted for Trump in the 2024 presidential election.
The congressman said, "We acted as if the problem was the voters; the problem was the party, and we acted with a condescension and a judgment on voters."
It appears as though Khanna is saying that the problem was with the Republican Party. If so, he, of course, is overlooking problems that Americans may have seen with the Democratic Party.

Himes took things a step further. He went so far as to admit that he likes some of the moves Trump has taken with regard to foreign policy.
"I could spend the next hour talking about things I don’t like about this presidency or about MAGA, but I will give him some real credit on foreign policy," he said.
The Hill reports:
He pointed to Trump’s “practical approach” in the Middle East, including the signing of an executive order in January to end sanctions against Syria after the unexpected collapse of Bashar Assad’s regime. “I mean, the opening to Syria, I did not anticipate that. That’s pretty amazing…. I give the president and his administration credit for this — to build up and support the Syrian regime,” Himes said.
Obviously, the Democrats have been doing some soul searching following their devastating defeat in the 2024 elections.
This is all part of an effort, no doubt, to take back control of Congress in the 2026 midterms. Time will tell whether this new strategy is successful.
