Thanks to Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D), a quadruple axe murderer is about to be released from prison.

The Daily Caller reports that the murderer, David Brom, is set to be released on July 29, 2025.

And, it is all thanks to a bill signed into law by Walz, the failed 2024 vice presidential candidate.

Looking back at the murders

Brom was found guilty of killing four members of his family with an axe.

The local outlet KARE11 reports:

The man accused of killing his parents, sister and younger brother in 1988 is set to be released from prison on July 29. David Brom was 16 when he used an axe to kill his family members in their Rochester home. He pleaded innocent by reason of insanity, but was found guilty of four counts of first-degree murder. He was sentenced to life in prison.

In fact, CBS News reports that he "was sentenced to three life sentences."

You would think this would mean that he would be in prison for at least the rest of his life. But, this is not so.

Rather, Brom is just days away from being released.

He's eligible for parole?

The Daily Caller explains how Gov. Walz made Brom's release possible.

Per the outlet:

Walz abolished life sentences without the possibility of early release for juvenile offenders in 2023, prompting criticism from more tough-on-crime Republicans now that Brom is set to reenter the community.

Thanks to the law, Brom became eligible for release, and it appears that this release has been approved by the Minnesota Department of Corrections (DOC).

KARE11 reports:

During a Minnesota Supervised Release Board meeting in January, Brom said he spent his time in prison to change the things about his life that led to "the decisions that I made" and that he believes himself a "good example of what a transformation can look like." He also apologized to the family and friends of the people he killed, as well as to the community of Rochester.

Despite outcry from many in the community, the Daily Caller explains, "David Brom, now 53, is scheduled to move to a halfway house for a work release program on July 29."
