Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz was not only a disastrous pick for former Vice President Kamala Harris' presidential campaign, but he was also a major concern for Homeland Security and the FBI, new reports indicated.

According to JustTheNews, bombshell internal memos revealed this week that Gov. Walz gave the agencies mentioned above a serious amount of pause due to his connections to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

Judicial Watch obtained internal memos from the agencies proving as much after filing a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request and suing the government for the documents.

There was reportedly evidence that there existed communications involving a probe into Walz, but the requests for those communications from groups was stalled under the Biden-Harris administration, thus triggering FOIA lawsuits by watchdog groups.

What's going on?

Walz's connections to the CCP are so concerning that one of the communications obtained by Judicial Watch, which was a group chat within Homeland Security called “NST NFT Bi-Weekly Sync," indicated that "China is happy."

That was said the day after Harris, who was the Democratic Party's presidential nominee after Biden was pushed out, announced Walz as her vice presidential running mate.

JustTheNews noted:

The employee linked a BBC News article detailing Chinese internet reactions to the choice, which were reported as largely positive.

In response, another employee, whose name is also redacted, suggested looping in the FBI due to its responsibility for domestic counterintelligence, the messages show.

"[W]ith FBI mission in the CI field i [sic] believe they need to get included," one of the Homeland Security employees wrote, referencing the need to get the FBI involved.

JustTheNews added:

Though it is unclear what roles the employees in the group had in the department at the time, the messages show the group constituted a team of investigators primarily concerned with monitoring “subnational engagement” by the Chinese with American officials.

The documents are reportedly the most profound proof to date of Walz's connections to the CCP. The issue came up repeatedly on the campaign trail but was largely downplayed by their campaign.

Cover-up?

Judicial Watch president Tom Fitton commented on the situation, claiming that Walz's connections to the CCP were largely hidden by the Biden administration.

"This is every bit as important as the Russiagate disclosures. The Biden gang obviously covered this all up to try to help rig the election," Fitton said.

A House probe was launched last year with the intent of investigating Walz's China connections, reportedly with concerns stemming from long before he became the Democratic VP nominee.

“The Committee’s investigation of the CCP – begun long before Governor Walz was elevated to be the vice-presidential candidate for Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris – seeks to understand the extent of the CCP’s infiltration and influence campaign and to identify legislative reforms to combat CCP political warfare targeting prominent Americans for elite capture," House Oversight Chairman James Comer (R-KY) wrote in a letter at the time.
