The dramatic Texas state House Democrats who fled the state in an effort to try and prevent Republicans from passing a new redistricting map ultimately ended up in Illinois.

In addition to now worrying about being arrested by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott's orders, the cowardly Democrats had to deal with a hotel evacuation after an apparent bomb threat was received, according to The Hill. 

According to St. Charles Police Department officers in Illinois, they "responded to a report of a bomb threat at about 7:15 a.m. CDT Wednesday at a hotel where the Democrats were staying."

Multiple agencies responded to the hotel, including other local law enforcement agencies and the fire department. No sign of a bomb was discovered, according to reports.

What's happening?

The situation was serious enough to warrant the immediate evacuation of 400 guests at the hotel, including the group of Texas Democrats who were staying there while avoiding their elected duties in their home state.

Given the high-profile nature of some of the guests at the hotel, Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker weighed in on the situation, vowing to hold accountable the person or people behind the bomb threat that caused the temporary disruption at the hotel.

"Threats of violence will be investigated and those responsible will be held accountable," Pritzker said in a statement posted to his X account.

The Hill noted:

A group of Texas state House Democratic leaders — Democratic Caucus Chair Gene Wu, Mexican American Legislative Caucus Chair Ramon Romero and Legislative Black Caucus Chair Barbara Gervin-Hawkins — said in a statement that a threat was made on Wednesday morning against the members, but everyone is safe.

"We are safe, we are secure, and we are undeterred," the group of AWOL Texas Dems said. "We are grateful for Governor Pritzker, local, and state law enforcement for their quick action to ensure our safety."

Social media reacts

Users across social media weighed in on the breaking news regarding the hotel bomb threat.

"Well it’s going turn out to be fake and from a Democrat… so good luck!" one X user wrote in response to Gov. Pritzker's post.

Another X user wrote, "The easiest way to tell when Pritzker's lying, is when his lips start to move... This is a Jussie Smolett, going out at 2AM for a Subway in below zero weather and getting jumped by MAGA people. That's what this is."

It'll be interesting to see if the Texas Democrats who ran away from their duties are ultimately arrested.
