Report: Biden skipped Superbowl interview because of the Hur Report
Former President Joe Biden, as he dealt with increasing fallout due to his obvious and painful-to-watch cognitive decline, reportedly skipped a traditional Super Bowl interview last year because of the Robert Hur report.
According to Fox News, a source familiar with a House Oversight Committee interview with former Biden aide Anita Dunn confirmed that the elderly, often-confused president skipped the Super Bowl interview because of what Hur's report said.
Hur, in his bombshell report, described Biden at the time as a "well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory."
The former special counsel had overseen Biden's classified documents case, in which he was essentially let off the hook due to his age and obvious cognitive challenges, though many believe he shouldn't have been let off the hook at all.
Scared of the interview
Dunn admitted that Biden's team scrubbed the Super Bowl interview because they were all scared that the interview would have more to do with Biden's classified documents case than it would his policy decisions and ideas.
The source familiar with the situation said the decision was made before the Hur report was released, though to many, that's difficult to take seriously or believe.
Fox News noted:
Dunn sat with House investigators for just over five hours Thursday as Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., probes allegations that Biden's inner circle worked to conceal evidence of mental decline in the former president.
The Republican-led House, and especially Chairman Comer of Kentucky, has been at the forefront of investigating what, to many, seems like an attempted massive cover-up of Biden's failing mental state in his final years in office.
Fox News added:
The source familiar with her interview said Dunn also told committee staff that Biden’s inner circle came to a consensus he should not take a cognitive test, concluding it would offer no political benefit.
Biden's team apparently argued at the time that Biden could have passed a cognitive test but said it would not change anything, though to a vast majority of the country, it most certainly would have.
The Hur Report
Special Counsel Robert Hur's report was nothing short of a bombshell, as it essentially confirmed that the elderly president was not fit for duty — as he was obviously not even fit to be charged with a serious crime.
Given that Joe Biden "would likely present himself to a jury, as he did during our interview of him, as a sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory," Hur said.
He added at the time, "it would be difficult to convince a jury that they should convict him — by then a former president well into his eighties — of a serious felony that requires a mental state of willfulness."
Only time will tell what other tidbits come from Biden's former aides as they're grilled on Capitol Hill.
