Vance hits Democrats for hypocrisy over Epstein, suggests cover-up by Biden
Vice president J.D. Vance is going on offense on the Jeffrey Epstein controversy, blasting Democrats for suddenly caring about the story after they "did nothing" during the Biden administration.
“We know that Jeffrey Epstein had a lot of connections with left-wing politicians and left-wing billionaires. … Democrat billionaires and Democrat political leaders went to Epstein island all the time. Who knows what they did,” said Vance on Fox News’s Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo.
Vance hits back
Since early July, the White House has come under criticism over its failure to release additional information in the Epstein case.
A controversial Justice Department memo rejected the existence of a "client list" and said there was no evidence to charge additional people beyond Epstein, who died from suicide, and his accomplice, Ghislaine Maxwel,l who is in prison for sex trafficking.
Trump and his team have deflected criticism in part by pointing to the Biden administration's inaction.
Vance, in particular, has accused Democrats and the liberal media of hypocrisy, saying they only began to take interest in the Epstein case when they realized they could use it for political advantage.
Trump and Vance have criticized the media's selective focus on tying Trump with Epstein, despite Epstein's ties to several prominent Democrats like Bill Cinton.
“I laugh at the Democrats who are now, all of a sudden, so interested in the Epstein files. For four years, Joe Biden and the Democrats did absolutely nothing about this story,” Vance told Fox.
"Full transparency"
While an initial right-wing backlash over the Epstein files has appeared to quiet down, Democrats and the mainstream media have seized the issue in an effort to smear Trump, who severed ties with Epstein years ago.
Over the past month, the left has hammered the Epstein story relentlessly despite showing no interest in it during the Biden presidency.
The Trump administration has asked judges to unseal grand jury testimony from the Epstein case, but those requests have gone nowhere so far.
“Now President Trump has demanded full transparency from this, and yet, somehow, the Democrats are attacking him and not the Biden administration,” said Vance on Sunday.
Vance appears to be suggesting that the Biden administration was part of a cover-up to protect Democrats with ties to Epstein.
Whatever the case may be, this much we can say for sure: if the files contained anything damaging about Trump, Biden's team would have made it public. So it is hard to see the Democrats' recent outrage as anything except cynical.
