"We're going to take our capital back," President Donald Trump said on Monday morning to start the week by announcing a federal takeover of Washington, D.C.'s law enforcement capabilities, the Daily Mail reported.

The announcement, which was anticipated over the weekend, sent Democrats into an absolute frenzy, including two-time presidential loser Hillary Clinton, who attempted to use false crime statistics to clap back at the president's move.

Washington, D.C., like any other blue-led city in America, is rife with crime, including drugs, prostitution, theft, murder, rape, and overall "squalor," as the president put it.

Trump mobilized National Guard resources to assist police in cleaning up the city, and Democrats lost their ever-loving minds as a result.

What's going on?

The president brought all of his heavy hitters out with him on Monday morning to make the announcement.

The Daily Mail noted:

Flanked by cabinet members Attorney General Pam Bondi, US Attorney for DC Jeanine Pirro, FBI Director Kash Patel, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, and Interior Director Doug Burgum, Trump said he would instruct federal law enforcement officials to deploy aggressive tactics against the city's worst offenders.

"You spit and we hit and we can hit real hard," Trump said as he announced the initiative.

Hillary weighs in

Hillary Clinton was one of the first high-profile Democrats to lead the backlash against the president for federalizing the city's law enforcement powers.

"As you listen to an unhinged Trump try to justify deploying the National Guard in DC, here's reality: Violent crime in DC is at a 30-year low," Clinton wrote on X, drawing an immediate White House response.

White House Deputy Press Secretary Abigail Jackson led the counter-attack to Clinton's asinine statistics, which were released under the Biden administration by someone accused of falsifying crime statistics.

Social media reacts

Clinton's post received mountains of negative feedback across social media and beyond, even after she turned off comments on her original post.

"Nobody believes anything said by Hillary Clinton," one X user wrote.

Another X user wrote, "Hillary should silence herself. Nobody is listening to her anyway. She's a known liar."
