Trump's D.C. crackdown starts with more than 100 arrests
Hundreds have already been arrested in Washington, D.C. as part of President Donald Trump's crack down on crime.
Fox News reports that, as of Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2025, the arrest total stood at 103.
This figure, of course, will almost certainly be highly - perhaps substantially so - by the time you read this article.
Washington, D.C., has one of the Highest Rates of Crime in the World, more than many of the most violent Third World Countries. The City’s Homicide Rate is higher than places notorious for their violence, such as Mexico City, Bogota, Islamabad, and Addis Ababa — Almost ten times…

The numbers
Fox reports that, on Tuesday alone, 43 arrests were made in the nation's capital.
Per the outlet:
Law enforcement officials have arrested a total of 103 individuals as of Wednesday morning since Aug. 7, which includes 43 who were arrested Tuesday, a White House official told Fox Digital Wednesday morning.
The outlet includes in its report a statement from the White House.
Spokeswoman Taylor Rogers told the outlet:
President Trump’s bold leadership is quickly making our nation’s capital safer. In less than one week, over 100 violent criminals have already been arrested and taken off of the streets in Washington, D.C. President Trump is delivering on his campaign promise to clean up this city and restore American Greatness to our cherished capital.
Indeed, he is.
Background
This is all part of President Trump's plan to make D.C. "Safe and Beautiful." The president signed an executive order to this effect back in March 2025.
The order, in part, reads:
It is the policy of the United States to make the District of Columbia safe, beautiful, and prosperous by preventing crime, punishing criminals, preserving order, protecting our revered American monuments, and promoting beautification and the preservation of our history and heritage.
More recently, Trump announced that he was federalizing the local D.C. police department, which has the effect of allowing the president to take emergency control of D.C. police for 30 days. National gaurd troops have also been deployed.
Now, we are starting to see the results.
Trump, in a recent social media message, wrote:
D.C. has been under siege from thugs and killers, but now, D.C. is back under Federal Control where it belongs. The White House is in charge. The Military and our Great Police will liberate this City, scrape away the filth, and make it safe, clean, habitable and beautiful once more!
