Democrats in the state of Minnesota have decided to revoke their endorsement of Omar Fateh for mayor of Minneapolis. 

The revocation, according to Breitbart News, comes after "verified voting errors" at the convention where he was chosen.

Suffice it to say that some Democrats, including far-left U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), are not happy about the situation.

It's over

The Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party explained its decision in a public statement.

The group's chairman said:

After a thoughtful and transparent review of the challenges, the Constitution, Bylaws & Rules Committee found substantial failures in the Minneapolis Convention’s voting process on July 19th, including an acknowledgement that a mayoral candidate was errantly eliminated from contention.

Richard Carlbom added, "As a result, the Constitution, Bylaws & Rules Committee has vacated the mayoral endorsement."

Mayor Jacob Frey called the evidence "damning" and alleged that the endorsement of Fateh was "brazen cheating."

A spokesman said:

Our campaign will be releasing a statement shortly, but the CBRC findings are more damning than our campaign could have possibly imagined. This wasn't an error. This was brazen cheating.

Background

The Minnesota Democratic Party endorsed Fateh back in July.

Fateh, at the time, wrote:

I am incredibly honored to be the DFL endorsed candidate for Minneapolis Mayor. This endorsement is a message that Minneapolis residents are done with broken promises, vetoes, and politics as usual. It’s a mandate to build a city that works for all of us.

Now, it appears that his run is over, but he claims that he is still in the fight. He just released a statement, saying, "28 party insiders met privately and voted to overturn our endorsement. Let me be clear, we’re still in this fight. And we’re going to win. Donate and sign up for a shift today."

Fateh is receiving support from the likes of Ilhan Omar. In a statement of her own, she wrote:

It is inexcusable to overturn the DFL endorsement from Omar Fateh. A small group, a majority living outside Minneapolis, met privately to overturn the will of Minneapolis delegates who volunteered, organized, and participated in a months-long DFL process. Unacceptable.

It is worth noting that neither Fateh nor Omar nor any of his supporters has addressed the cheating allegations.
