Barron Trump is a no-show for first week back at college
Barron Trump has not been seen at his college campus as he dedicates more time to cultivating his business career.
The youngest son of President Trump recently completed his first year of studies at New York University's Stern School of Business. But as classes start up again for the fall, he is nowhere in sight at the Greenwich Village campus.
"From what I was told," one campus officer told People, "he's doing a semester at another NYU campus."
Barron transfers?
Barron had been commuting to class from his family's Trump Tower residence, with Secret Service in tow.
For his safety, the first son is said to lead a segregated social life, interacting with friends mostly in online gaming chat rooms. He is known to be close to his family, and in particular his doting mother Melania, who never ceases to fret about his safety.
A source told People in August that Melania “always knows where he is and what he’s doing."
It was not immediately clear which NYU campus Barron is at now. The school has locations all around the world, including degree-granting campuses in Downtown Brooklyn, Abu Dhabi and Shanghai, as well as learning centers in Los Angeles and Washington, D.C., and elsewhere.
Girlfriend?
The elusive first son has fascinated the public, with rumors frequently swirling about his career and dating life.
There were unconfirmed reports in the spring that Barron is in a relationship, although that might be news to his father, who commented last year, "I don’t think he’s had a girlfriend yet."
A source told NewsNation in May that "Barron has a really nice girlfriend and hangs out with her a lot." But other sources indicate that Barron is more interested in business at this stage in his life.
"I don't think that's a big deal in his life right now," a source told People.
"He has more school, a family who dotes on him and a career of his own he is launching," the source explained.
Setting up deals
Sources told People last month that Barron spent his summer with family and setting up deals, with plans to launch his own company.
"'Barron has been actively working on his own financial interests and has spent time with others who he is involved with in that area," a source told People.
"Still, he has spent a great deal of time with his family."
