John Fetterman slams growing support for socialism among Democrats
A recently released Gallup poll found that 66% of Democrats "view socialism favorably" while only 42% see capitalism in a positive light.
However, Pennsylvania Democratic Sen. John Fetterman recently broke with others in his party on the issue, calling those who support socialism "morons."
Fetterman points to experience of those who have lived under socialism
According to Breitbart, Fetterman's remarks came after a reporter asked him about the survey's findings during an outdoor press conference.
"Oh, that's a great, it's a great question," Fetterman responded. "I literally was in a former communist nation, and I asked that. I said, 'Some people in my party, some of the lefties are talking about socialism now. What do you think?'"

"And he’s like, ‘That’s the worst thing ever. You would never want to live here, I’ve lived through that kind of a thing,'" the senator recalled.
"'You’re going to need a reality check if you ever adopt any of those things,'" Fetterman stressed. "''You know, like, you are morons. It’s like, it was a nightmare for us, and now we are a free market nation.'"
Senator says Zohran Mamdani is "not even a Democrat"
Breitbart noted how Fetterman's anti-socialist stance is in sharp contrast to the position taken by New York City Democratic mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani.
Mamdani has raised eyebrows over his calls for government-run grocery stores as well as his history of voicing opposition to law enforcement.
The Hill reported that Fetterman was quick to denounce Mamdani directly during an interview with Fox News earlier this year.
"“I mean, so, he’s not even a Democrat, honestly," the Pennsylvania lawmaker asserted. "Everything that I’ve read on him, I don’t really agree with virtually any of it, politically."
New York congressman says Mamdani should leave the Democratic Party
Fetterman is the only Democrat putting distance between himself and Mamdani, as New York Democratic Rep. Tom Suozzi has done so as well.
Breitbart noted how Souzzi suggested during an interview with CBS New York’s Marcia Kramer last week that the mayoral candidate should form his own party.
What's more, Souzzi argued that it would hurt Democrats if House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries were to give Mamdani his endorsement.
Suozzi further asserted that "capitalism has raised more people out of poverty than any other system in the world" whereas "socialism has failed everywhere."
