Kamala Harris torches Biden for running for second term in upcoming memoir
It was bound to happen, and this week it did. Former Vice President Kamala Harris torched former President Joe Biden for attempting to run for another term in the White House.
According to the New York Post, Harris went "scorched earth" on Biden for his decision to seek a second term, calling the move an act of "recklessness."
Harris' grievances on the subject surfaced in her upcoming memoir, even writing that the decision for Biden to run again shouldn't be "left to an individual’s ego."
The Atlantic obtained excerpts from her upcoming memoir, "107 Days," which reportedly even came as a surprise to many former Biden aides, who were reportedly not expecting Harris to write a tell-all.
What's going on?
Harris almost admitted that during the run-up to the decision for Biden to run again, she was a team player and as America saw on many occasions, she fully endorsed the idea of Biden seeking a second term.
But according to her new book, she appears to have regrets for not stepping in sooner.
“Was it grace, or was it recklessness? In retrospect, I think it was recklessness," she said of the decision not to push Biden to drop out of the 2024 race a lot sooner, which undoubtedly would have boosted her chances of making more headway against then-candidate Donald Trump.
“The stakes were simply too high. This wasn’t a choice that should have been left to an individual’s ego, an individual’s ambition. It should have been more than a personal decision.”
A former White House official wasn't impressed with Harris' confessions, as the Post reported:
One former White House official claimed to The Post that Harris’ admission “hurts” any chance of a political comeback in 2028.
“No one wants a leader that can’t speak truth to power, but I do not think she is going to run,” the Democratic aide said.
“Is she just going to be like ‘sure’ [to Russian President Vladimir] Putin and then write in a book she should have said ‘don’t bomb Poland’?
Another former Biden White House worker couldn't believe the former vice president's book, saying, "We were all surprised with how candid she was in this book.”
Not a "nothingburger"
The outlet reported that several additional former White House aides under Biden were shocked at the new book.
“We honestly thought that it was going to be a nothingburger. This actually made me want to buy it," the former Biden worker said, adding that they thought it was smart for her to push her book out before Biden got a chance to push his.
"I’m sure the [book] tour will sell out. I’m sure she will make a lot of money from this. I’m sure it will raise her profile even more. But it’s not going to give her any political footing," another source said.
Only time will tell if Biden hits back in his own book, whoever writes that.
