While most Americans were horrified by this week's brutal assassination of Charlie Kirk, others have taken to celebrating the activist's murder, including some at the Department of War.

However, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth has made clear that he will bring the hammer down on such individuals.

Hegseth promises "immediate" action

According to Breitbart, that message was conveyed in a social media post on Thursday by Chief Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell.

"It is unacceptable for military personnel and Department of War civilians to celebrate or mock the assassination of a fellow American," Parnell wrote before adding, "The Department of War has zero tolerance for it."

Hegseth later followed up with a social media post of his own, stating, "We are tracking all these very closely -- and will address, immediately. Completely unacceptable."

U.S. Navy petty officer: "F--k Charlie Kirk"

Breitbart noted how U.S. Navy Petty Officer Anthony Hyland posted a video to his TikTok account in which he heralded Kirk's murder.

"F--k Charlie Kirk… we are not going to be made to feel bad about y’all bulls--t hero that consistently spewed harmful rhetoric," Hyland yelled into his camera.

"I don’t condone what happened to him, but guess what? God’s timing is always right," the sailor declared before going on to accuse Kirk of being a "racist."

Hyland was not alone, as Breitbart pointed out how a New Jersey Army National Guard also put up a social media post which voiced similar sentiments.

Incendiary statements under scrutiny

Shannon Tonra is a mortuary affairs specialist, who wrote on Facebook, "Oh no. Whatever shall we do without his incessant misogyny, racism and hatefulness."

Meanwhile, Guillermo Muniz serves as a commander at the 22nd Mobile Public Affairs Detachment at U.S. Army Forces Command (FORSCOM), and he suggested that Kirk's killing was justified.

"Ladies and gentlemen, the constitution exists to protect you from government persecution. It does not protect you from being held accountable for your actions by other people," Muniz said on Facebook.

"If you choose to make a living by actively talking crap and pissing people off, you should expect for someone to want to hurt you someday. It’s literally a FAFO situation," he added.
