Although the majority of Americans were appalled by this week's public assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, not everyone was troubled.

They included Secret Service Agent Anthony Pough, who welcomed Kirk's death as an example of "karma."

Pough: Kirk "spewed hate and racism"

That's according to Real Clear Politics, which quoted Pough as writing in a since-deleted Facebook post, "If you are Mourning this guy .. delete me. He spewed hate and racism on his show."

"At the end of the day, you answer to GOD and speak things into existence. You can only circumvent karma, she doesnt [sic] leave," Pough went on to add.

Real Clear Politics noted how Pough's remarks came to the attention of Tennessee Republican Sen. Marsha Blackburn, who sent a letter to Secret Service Director Sean Curran on Thursday.

"Put simply, your employee celebrated and attempted to justify a political assassination," she wrote. "This conduct is inexcusable, and I urge you in the strongest possible terms to immediately terminate his employment."

Military officers praised assassination

Politico cited sources who indicated that Pough has since been put on administrative leave and the Secret Service is in the process of firing him.

However, Breitbart pointed out that Pough is far from being the only government employee to react with glee to Kirk's assassination.

Another was U.S. Navy Petty Officer Anthony Hyland, who declared in a TikTok a video, "F--k Charlie Kirk… we are not going to be made to feel bad about y’all bulls--t hero that consistently spewed harmful rhetoric."

Similar sentiments were expressed by Guillermo Muniz , who serves as a commander at the 22nd Mobile Public Affairs Detachment at U.S. Army Forces Command (FORSCOM).

"If you choose to make a living by actively talking crap and pissing people off, you should expect for someone to want to hurt you someday. It’s literally a FAFO situation," Muniz wrote in a Facebook post.

Department of War's "zero tolerance" policy

For his part, chief Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell made clear in a social media post of his own that such comments will be met with consequences.

"It is unacceptable for military personnel and Department of War civilians to celebrate or mock the assassination of a fellow American. The Department of War has zero tolerance for it," Parnell warned.
