It appears that Missouri's recent redrawing of its congressional map will likely result in Republicans picking up a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives. 

The Daily Caller reports that the Missouri Senate approved the new congressional map on Friday.

The move, as we will see, is being celebrated by President Donald Trump.

The details

Fox News reports that Missouri "is the latest battleground in the congressional redistricting showdown after the passage of new maps in GOP-dominated Texas and a redistricting push by Democrats in heavily blue California."

Unlike those efforts, it appears that the new Missouri map will only change one congressional seat.

Fox writes:

The Missouri state Senate, meeting Friday in a special legislative session, passed by a 21-11 vote a new congressional map that is likely to hand Republicans an additional seat in the U.S. House of Representatives ahead of next year's midterm elections.

There is no doubt that every seat counts, considering how close things have been in the U.S. House of Representatives, where Republicans currently hold onto a small majority.

The Missouri redistricting bill has already passed both chambers of the state legislature. Now, it is heading to the desk of Missouri Gov. Mike Kehoe, where it will be signed into law.

Trump celebrates

President Trump celebrated the redistricting effort on social media.

In a message, he wrote:

Thank you very much to the Great State of Missouri for the Redistricting which will, hopefully, give us an additional Seat in Congress! A new, much fairer, and much improved, Congressional Map, has now overwhelmingly passed both Chambers of the Missouri Legislature.

Trump went on to congratulate those involved in the effort.

He continued:

Congratulations to Governor Mike Kehoe, Senate President Pro Tempore Cindy O'Laughlin, Senate Majority Floor Leader Tony Luetkemeyer, Speaker Pro Tem Chad Perkins, Representative Dirk Deaton, and many other Patriotic Legislators, for your FANTASTIC work on this new Map, which will help send an additional MAGA Republican to Congress in the 2026 Midterm Elections.
