On Tuesday, a judge in Utah approved a protective order for Erika Kirk against the man accused of shooting and killing her husband, prominent conservative commentator Charlie Kirk.

Tyler Robinson was arrested Thursday night and is being held without bail on capital murder and other charges. He appeared virtually before Judge Tony Graf to hear the charges against him.

The next court hearing in the case against Robinson, who is accused of using a sniper rifle to shoot Kirk in the neck, causing his death, will be September 29.

Robinson did not enter a plea at Tuesday's hearing. His request for a court-appointed attorney was granted by Graf.

Not cooperating

The alleged shooter was reportedly not cooperating with authorities and had not confessed to the crime of shooting Kirk.

Prosecutors said they have evidence against Robinson, including eyewitness testimony, text messages and other online data, and DNA evidence.

Prosecutors plan to seek the death penalty in the case.

Kirk was the founder of Turning Point USA, had a podcast and wrote books in addition to traveling the country to conduct events on college campuses.

The Christian/conservative community has been in shock since the shooting, and there has been an outpouring of love and support for Kirk's family.

The movement grows

Turning Point USA reported that it has received more than 54,000 requests to start new chapters at high schools and colleges since the shooting.

Erika Kirk has vowed to keep her husband's legacy alive in a speech after Robinson was found.

"If you thought my husband's mission was powerful before, you have no idea. You have no idea what you have just unleashed across this entire country," she said. "You have no idea the fire you have ignited in this wife."

"The cries of this widow will echo around the world like a battle cry," she continued. "The movement my husband built will not die. I refuse to let that happen."

"No one will ever forget my husband's name and I will make sure of it," she added.
