Peter Navarro was not 'combative' during FBI arrest, new audio recordings prove
Peter Navarro, one of President Donald Trump's closest advisers and confidants, was arrested and taken into custody in a morning raid carried out by President Joe Biden's FBI in 2022.
According to the Daily Caller in an exclusive report, one of the justifications noted by Joe Biden's Department of Justice to place Navarro under arrest is the claim that he was "combative."
However, that doesn't seem to be the case. At all.
The Daily Caller Foundation obtained audio recordings of Navarro's encounter with FBI agents in May 2022 and noted that he definitely was not "combative" with them, proving that Biden's DOJ was lying. Surprise, surprise.
What's going on?
It was claimed that Navarro, during the FBI raid that resulted in his detainment, became combative with the responding FBI agents. But according to the files, released by Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA), tell a vastly different series of events.
The Daily Caller noted:
Navarro, who serves as senior counselor for trade and manufacturing and filled a similar role during the first Trump administration, has objected to the FBI’s choice to arrest him at Reagan National Airport as he was heading to a speaking engagement on June 3, 2022.
Biden's DOJ went all out in attempting to justify the arrest of Navarro at the airport that day.
"Contrary to the Defendant’s claims, however, it is not law enforcement’s normal practice to ask combative, unrepresented subjects to self-surrender," the Biden DOJ wrote in an Aug. 15, 2022, court filing.
“At the time he was indicted and arrested, the Defendant was not represented. And only a few days before, when the case agents attempted to interview him and serve him with a subpoena at his residence, the Defendant at first refused to open the door and then, when he did, told the agents to ‘get the f*** out of here.’"
It was noted that the situation was so wonky that even the judge in charge of the case was surprised that Navarro was not given the offer to self-surrender.
The outlet noted:
“It is curious … at a minimum why the government treated Mr. Navarro’s arrest in the way it did,” U.S. District Court Judge Amit Mehta, an Obama appointee, said during a July 2022 hearing, according to Politico. “It is a federal crime, but it is not a violent crime.”
More questions
Navarro has not let the situation be swept under the rug. He continues to fight in pressing his appeal.
The Daily Caller added:
“The Department of Justice should not be allowed to disavow, without explanation or acknowledgment of its reasons, the positions it has pursued in this case for more than three years,” Navarro argued.
It'll be interesting to see if he ultimately prevails now that the DOJ is under the Trump administration.
