Trump remains lukewarm on relationship with Elon Musk after Kirk memorial

Charlie Kirk's memorial was nothing short of amazing, and it brought out the best in Republicans, conservatives and most of the country -- at least for a day.

It was reported that one of Kirk's more recent wishes was for Elon Musk and President Donald Trump to make amends, and the two appeared to do so at the memorial, as Musk briefly entered the presidential viewing area and sat with him.

However, according to the Daily Mail, Trump doesn't appear totally sold on the idea that the two have made up, noting that he thought it was "really nice" that Musk showed up, but adding that it "had nothing to do with that."

Musk and Trump shook hands at the memorial, and shared a brief conversation, sparking many to wonder if it was the start of a rekindling of their previously great relationship.

What's going on?

While aboard Air Force One this week, one reporter asked the president, "Everyone's saying that Charlie brought you and Elon back together. Is that true?"

President Trump was quick to respond, saying, "Well, Elon came over and said hello. And, no, it's nothing to do with that."

He added, "I thought it was nice. You know, he came over, we had a little conversation. We had a very good relationship. But it was nice that he came."

The Daily Mail noted:

Shorter clips of their interaction showed Trump and Musk appearing to exchange pleasantries, with the two men shaking hands and Trump patting Musk on the knee.

The encounter raised eyebrows, given Musk's high-profile exit from the White House in June.

Musk and Trump had a very nasty, very public falling out after Musk relentlessly opposed Trump's "Big, Beautiful Bill."

Social media reacts

Users across social media shared their thoughts on the two men meeting briefly at Kirk's memorial.

"Charlie's memory should bring us all back together," one X user wrote.

Another X user wrote, "Charlie's sacrifice has only strengthened and emboldened the Conservative movement!"

Hopefully, the two men, who have the ability to reshape the course of America, will eventually put aside their differences for the greater good.
