Trump admin. take 'emergency action to protect America's roads'
The administration of President Donald Trump just took "emergency action to protect America's roads."
Just the News reports that the administration is looking to cut back on the abuse of commercial driver's licenses by making it more difficult for migrants to acquire such licenses.
The move is being spearheaded by Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy.
BREAKING: Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy uncovers shocking NATIONWIDE abuse in issuing CDLs and licenses to criminal aliens.
Legal status isn’t even being checked before issuing licenses. Insane:

The details
Duffy and the Transportation Department on Friday published a press release on the "emergency action" being taken.
It, in part, reads:
Moving forward, non-citizens will not be eligible for a non-domiciled CDL unless they meet a much stricter set of rules, including an employment-based visa and undergoing a mandatory federal immigration status check using the SAVE system.
The press release states that a recent audit "has uncovered both a catastrophic pattern of states issuing licenses illegally to foreign drivers, as well as the fact that even if the current regulatory framework is followed, it can fail."
The department adds, "The confluence of these two factors has created an imminent hazard on America’s roadways that must be fixed."
The deparment also made clear that the rule "comes in response to an ongoing nationwide audit by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and a recent series of horrific, fatal crashes caused by non-domiciled drivers."
Background
Just the News has reported on some of the crashes referred to above.
Per the outlet:
Among the most recent and well-known such crashes is the fatal one last month in Florida involving an illegal migrant truck driver. The driver, who is in the U.S. illegally, has a commercial driver's license from California. He was attempting to make a U-turn in an unauthorized area with a commercial semi-truck with a trailer on the Florida Turnpike, but the trailer jackknifed and a minivan ran into it, killing all three of the minivan's passengers.
The Trump administration is hoping that the new rule will cut back on such incidents.
Duffy himself released a statement on the matter, arguing that the situation "should disturb and anger every American."
He said:
What our team has discovered should disturb and anger every American. Licenses to operate a massive, 80,000-pound truck are being issued to dangerous foreign drivers – often times illegally. This is a direct threat to the safety of every family on the road, and I won’t stand for it. Today’s actions will prevent unsafe foreign drivers from renewing their license and hold states accountable to immediately invalidate improperly issued licenses.
