Trump signals 'there'll be others' who will face indictment after Comey

Former FBI Director James Comey, who was fired by President Donald Trump in 2017, was criminally indicted this week on federal charges of perjury and obstruction of justice related to alleged false testimony he provided to Congress in a 2020 hearing.

On Friday, Trump shared with reporters his belief that "there'll be others" who'll similarly be federally indicted soon, according to the Washington Examiner.

The president denied having any "list" of potential indictees and declined to specify who those "others" might be, aside from mentioning the "corrupt radical left Democrats" who "weaponized" the Justice Department against him and his supporters over the past decade.

"I think there’ll be others"

As President Trump left the White House on Friday to appear at the Ryder Cup golf tournament in New York, he stopped to briefly speak with reporters and was asked by one about the Comey indictment and who might be "next" on his "list" of perceived enemies, according to the New York Post.

"It’s not a list, but I think there’ll be others. I mean, they’re corrupt," Trump replied. "These were corrupt radical left Democrats, because Comey, essentially, was a Dem -- he’s worse than a Democrat. I would say the Democrats are better than Comey."

"But no, there will be others. Look, that’s my opinion," he added. "They weaponized the Justice Department like nobody in history. What they’ve done is terrible … frankly, I hope there are others because you can't let this happen to a country."

Trump called for action against Comey, other enemies

The Post noted that, just days before the Comey indictment was announced, President Trump had seemingly chastised Attorney General Pam Bondi on social media for not taking action swiftly enough against some of his political enemies who've attempted to use the justice system against him in the past.

That included not just the ex-FBI director but also Sen. Adam Schiff (D-CA), who led the first impeachment against him while still a member of the House, and New York Attorney General Letitia James, who sought to financially ruin him and his business with multiple civil cases and lawsuits.

"They’re all guilty as hell, but nothing is going to be done," he lamented in a Truth Social post, and later added, "We can’t delay any longer, it’s killing our reputation and credibility. They impeached me twice, and indicted me (5 times!), OVER NOTHING. JUSTICE MUST BE SERVED, NOW!!!"

Trump cheered "justice" for Comey

According to Newsweek, Comey was indicted on Thursday with two felony charges related to his September 2020 testimony to Congress as part of an investigation into the alleged unauthorized disclosure of sensitive information.

Comey was charged with providing false statements to Congress as well as obstructing the congressional investigation -- alleged crimes to which he has professed his innocence.

In announcing the charges on Thursday, Attorney General Bondi said, "Today’s indictment reflects this Department of Justice’s commitment to holding those who abuse positions of power accountable for misleading the American people. We will follow the facts in this case."

As for President Trump, he posted on Truth Social in response to the indictment, "JUSTICE IN AMERICA! One of the worst human beings this Country has ever been exposed to is James Comey, the former Corrupt Head of the FBI. Today he was indicted by a Grand Jury on two felony counts for various illegal and unlawful acts."

"He has been so bad for our Country, for so long, and is now at the beginning of being held responsible for his crimes against our Nation. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!" he added.
