Mike Johnson posts video showing Democrats opposing shutdowns in the past
This week saw Senate Democrats cause a government shutdown by refusing to pass a continuing resolution which would have guaranteed funding until November 21.
That move brought allegations of hypocrisy from House Speaker Mike Johnson, presented a video compilation of Democrats arguing against shutdowns in the past.
Johnson: Democrats previously "insisted we must keep the government open"
According to Breitbart, Johnson is continuously playing the video on a television set located outside of his office in the U.S. Capitol.
Johnson also included the video in a social media post which he put up last week, writing, "Under President Biden, Democrats insisted we must keep the government open."
Under President Biden, Democrats insisted we must keep the government open.
Now under President Trump they’re saying the opposite.
Last week every single House Democrat but one voted to SHUT DOWN the government.

"Now under President Trump they’re saying the opposite," he continued before adding, "Last week every single House Democrat but one voted to SHUT DOWN the government. WATCH Democrats in their own words explain how damaging that is."
Chuck Schumer warned that shutdown would harm "average Americans"
One clip featured New York Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who in 2019 said, "It is not normal to shut down the government when we don’t get what we want."
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer could also be seen voicing opposition to a possible shutdown in September of last year.
"If the government shuts down, it will be average Americans who suffer most," Schumer asserted while railing against "hard-right Republicans" and "MAGA radicals."
"A government shutdown means seniors who rely on Social Security could be thrown into chaos," the New York senator maintained.
Hakeem Jeffries: "Families will be hurt. Farmers will be hurt"
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries cautioned against a shutdown as well, declaring, "Families will be hurt. Farmers will be hurt."
Meanwhile, Massachusetts Democratic Rep. Ayanna Pressley said that a shutdown would harm "the most vulnerable," including "seniors, veterans, working families, hungry kids."
Breitbart noted how for his part, President Donald Trump took Democrats to task when speaking from the Oval Office on Tuesday, stating, "They are shutting it down. We’re not shutting it down."
"We don’t want it to shut down because we have the greatest period of time ever. I tell you we have $17 trillion being invested, so the last person that wants it shut down is us," he asserted.
