Conservative journalist arrested in Portland
Conservative journalist Nick Sortor was arrested in Portland, Oregon, this past week.
The Washington Examiner reports that the administration of President Donald Trump is now investigating the situation.
Here is footage of the incident:
New video appears to show the incident that led to the arrest of @nicksortor by Portland police. He certainly does not appear to be the agitator, it looks like he’s physically assaulted, and there’s at least one man threatening to “f**k him up”, same man from the night before. https://t.co/hzG0YBea0u

Here's what happened:
This is all part of the protests that are taking place in Portland, Oregon, outside of a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility.
A press release from local law enforcement states:
At about 8:09 p.m., PPB Dialogue Officers (DLOs) observed two men fighting near the ICE building driveway. The DLOs called in additional resources and officers were responding when the fight ended following one participant being knocked to the ground. He did not lose consciousness and never requested medical help. Both involved were detained by federal law enforcement and were later released. Neither party indicated they wanted to make a police report. PPB continued to monitor the situation and responded after seeing additional fights break out. At about 11:16 p.m., RRT moved in and arrested three people were arrested and all booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center (MCDC) on charges of Disorderly Conduct in the Second Degree:
A 27-year-old Nicholos Sortor of Washington, D.C. was identified by authorities as one of those arrested.
Reporter Bill Melugin, who was there, provided further details.
Fox News reports:
Melugin also said in a post on X that he had spoken to Sortor on the phone after he was released from custody. Melugin said Sortor told him that "he was getting video of protesters getting maced by federal agents, which was embarrassing video for them as they were ‘crying’ etc." "He says they then swarmed/surrounded him, pushed him down into a flower bed, and someone threw a punch," Melugin wrote. "Nick says he swung back and missed, then disengaged and walked over to a group of Portland PD. He says he was then shocked to be arrested by them, and he sat in the back of a police cruiser while officers figured out what to charge him with."
Trump admin responds
According to Sortor himself, the Trump administration is looking into his arrest.
Sortor reported:
Attorney General Pam Bondi has ORDERED a full investigation, led by Asst. AG Harmeet Dhillon, of the Portland Police Bureau, following my wrongful arrest last night, Bondi confirmed to me. FAFO, @PortlandPolice.
Sortor went on to reveal that he received a "personal call" from Bondi.
He wrote:
@AGPamBondi personally called me to deliver this news, and I’m incredibly grateful to her for doing so. The Trump DOJ WILL NOT allow Portland Police to continue to do the bidding of Antifa.
