President Trump announced that Israel and Hamas have accepted phase one of his deal to end the war in Gaza, Just The News reported.

The diplomatic breakthrough could seal Trump's legacy as a peacemaker, with some Democrats in Congress offering cautious praise.

Trump the peacemaker

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu convened his cabinet on Thursday to approve the first phase of Trump's comprehensive, 20-point plan.

The deal calls for a cease-fire, the release of Israeli hostages and Palestinian prisoners, and the withdrawal of Israel's forces from Gaza. Hamas must also commit to disarming and abdicating its rule over Gaza, which has been governed by the terror group since 2007.

Trump quoted Christ's Sermon on the Mount in a Truth Social post Wednesday night, announcing an agreement had been reached.

"I am very proud to announce that Israel and Hamas have both signed off on the first Phase of our Peace Plan. This means that ALL of the Hostages will be released very soon, and Israel will withdraw their Troops to an agreed upon line as the first steps toward a Strong, Durable, and Everlasting Peace," Trump announced Wednesday on Truth Social.

"All Parties will be treated fairly! This is a GREAT Day for the Arab and Muslim World, Israel, all surrounding Nations, and the United States of America, and we thank the mediators from Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey, who worked with us to make this Historic and Unprecedented Event happen. BLESSED ARE THE PEACEMAKERS!"

Hours after announcing the deal, Trump told Fox News' Sean Hannity that the remaining 48 hostages will be released on Monday, as the families of the captives thanked Trump for his efforts to free their loved ones.

Nobel Peace Prize?

To Trump supporters and detractors alike, the deal is proof of his uncanny ability to overcome even the toughest obstacles.

"There is no doubt that he deserves the Nobel Peace Prize for this. Should he visit us in the coming days, he will be received with immense respect, affection, and gratitude by the people of Israel," said Israeli President Isaac Herzog.

Even Democrats have begrudgingly acknowledged that Trump deserves credit, although they are waiting to see if the deal sticks.

“I give President Trump credit for it, along with others who have played a part,” Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Ct.) said. “The exciting prospect of this peace deal is monumental. Nothing like it in recent history, potentially, and there are a lot of people who deserve credit for it if it happens, President Trump is among them.”

The brutal conflict has taken an enormous human toll, starting with the deadliest attack on Israel in its modern history on October 7, 2023, when Hamas killed 1,200 Israelis and took 250 hostages. The war has destroyed Gaza, with over 67,000 Palestinians killed and nearly 2 million displaced.

Now, the families of the hostages will be reunited with their loved ones, and Gazans have a chance to rebuild.

None of this would have been possible without Trump and his bold, courageous leadership.
