Trump launches 'DOGE 2.0'
Amid the government shutdown, President Donald Trump appears to have launched "DOGE 2.0."
This is according to a new report from the Daily Mail.
"DOGE" is the Department of Government Efficiency. It was created to combat "waste, fraud, and abuse" in the federal government. Initially, it was led by Elon Musk, but Musk has moved on, and it would appear that Trump's budget chief, Russ Vought, has taken up the slack.

1,000s, including an entire agency, gone already
President Trump made a big move on Friday by firing some 4,100 government employees. The Daily Caller reports that this includes the entire staff of the Community Financial Institutions Fund (CDFI).
Per the outlet:
The White House began conducting mass layoffs on Friday amid a prolonged government shutdown, including slashing an entire department under the U.S. Department of the Treasury. The entire staff at the Community Financial Institutions Fund (CDFI) received a layoff notice on Friday, an administration official confirmed to the Daily Caller News Foundation.
This, however, is only a drop in the bucket, as the agency only had about 100 full-time staff.
The Daily mail reports:
The firings would hit the hardest at the departments of the Treasury, which would lose over 1,400 employees; Health and Human Services, with a loss of over 1,100; and Housing and Urban Development, set to lose over 400.
The firings are already being challenged in court.
Here's what's really going on:
President Trump has made it clear that, if the Democrats in Congress do reopen the government, then he is going to proceed with large-scale funding and personnel cuts.
The Democrats in the U.S. Senate rejected the Republicans' latest attempt to open the government back up on Friday, and Trump responded with the firing of these 4,100 employees.
At the time of this writing, there is no sign that would suggest that the government is going to open back up any time soon. Trump, however, has made it clear that more cuts are forthcoming.
Vought implied this, saying, "The RIFs have begun." "RIFs" stand for "reduction in force."
The bottom line is that, in the near future, we expect the government shutdown to continue, and we expect Trump and his administration to continue making cuts to personnel and funds.
