President Donald Trump and his administration just took action to make In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) more accessible.

Trump, according to the Daily Caller, made the move on Thursday.

This should come as no surprise, for Trump has made it clear that he is strongly in favor of such treatments.

The details:

The White House released a fact sheet, titled, "President Donald J. Trump Announces Actions to Lower Costs and Expand Access to In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) and High-Quality Fertility Care."

The fact sheet, in part, states:

Today, President Donald J. Trump announced the third agreement with a leading pharmaceutical manufacturer to bring American drug prices in line with the lowest prices paid by other developed nations (known as the most-favored-nation, or MFN, price). This agreement is with one of the world’s leading manufacturers of fertility medications, EMD Serono, and will result in massive cost savings on fertility treatments.

Among the drugs to be discounted will be GONAL-F, "a commonly used fertility medication."

The fact sheet goes on to state:

Additionally, President Trump announced the creation of a New Benefit Option for fertility benefits. Under this option, employers will have a new legal pathway to offer fertility benefits directly to employees, like they do for dental, vision, and life insurance, representing a massive opportunity to expand access to IVF coverage.

These changes are already being widely celebrated.

"We want to make it easier..."

Trump spoke in the Oval Office about the deal.

He said:

We want to make it easier for all couples to have babies, raise families they’ve always dreamed about. That’s why today, I’m pleased to announce that after extensive negotiations, EMD Serono, one of the largest fertility drug manufacturer in the world, has agreed to provide massive discounts to all fertility drugs they sell in the United States, including the most popular drug of all, Gonal-f.

The president went on to say, "There’s no deeper happiness and joy [than] raising children and now millions of Americans struggling with infertility will have a new chance to share the greatest experience of them all."

The Daily Caller reports that, prior to these steps by the Trump administration, "The average cost for standard IVF treatments costs around $23,474 per cycle, though costs vary by city and region."

Trump campaigned on making IVF more affordable, and it would appear that this is exactly what he is doing.
